The eagle-eyes behind AllGamesBeta have spied a listing on the LinkedIn profile of Rockstar New England employee Doron Feinstein, which mentions the "next version of a famous IP", in development since at least September 2010. Could John or Jack Marston be getting ready to ride again?

One small and decidedly vague sentence isn't much to go on, granted, but when it's combined with various other bits and bobs gleaned over the last year or more, it certainly begins to look like a Red Dead Redemption sequel isn't a case of if, but of when.

First off, Rockstar began hiring for a next generation console project way back at the start of 2012, long before the Xbox One had been revealed and way before we really had any clear picture on the size and scope of GTA V.
Then, in July last year, Rockstar told fans to "stay tuned" for further announcements regarding the future of the Red Dead franchise during a Q&A on its NewsWire, suggesting it definitely had some things to say regarding a potential sequel.

Finally, just a few weeks ago, Rockstar's Dan Houser told the Guardian that the studio was "of course" interested in next gen platforms. "We don't have another GTA in development, he said, "We don't work on three of these games at a time. That would be phenomenally depressing."

So, if the developer's next gen hiring wasn't for GTA, what was it for? If we're to stay tuned for Red Dead news, what could it be? If the studio is working on a famous IP that isn't GTA, what is it? It's got to be a new Red Dead title. If it isn't, I'll eat my stetson.

Could be Manhunt 2 or a sequel to Bully, which dan houser himself has said he'd like to make. Your thread title is misleading.

Dan also said Bully 2 is unlikely and Manhunt was never a big success out side the controversy.

Doesn't change the fact that the current thread title is misleading. That aside, a next gen red dead title would be the very top of my list of hopefuls.

I'd put money on RDR2. It was so much more successful than Bully or Manhunt and considered a legit classic. I don't think Bully 2 will ever be made unless T2 just has a bunch of money floating around. Manhunt 2 was a huge flop. Nothing but a disappointment.

Oh man I can't wait for another RDR. Loved the first one and was my favorite game this Gen.

I think it could be LA Noire sequel though. Dan Houser was quite eager to make that one, so it's coming out some day, even if the next one is RDR2, which is most likely.

Next Red Dead is probably the game I am most excited to see next gen.

I wonder where they will go, because red dead redemption was right in the cusp between the wild west and cars and what not. It was a great setting.

Wasn't it only released on the Wii? Odd choice.

It was released on the PS2 and PC as well if I remember well, but the Wii version got a ton of attention partially because it was still relatively early in the Wii's life so it had a very good reputation on it along with being heavily censored. I remember my bud playing this and there was just censoring all over the place. You had to play the PC version if you wanted it uncensored.

A next gen manhunt would be cool, though I'd highly doubt that's even in the cards. Red Dead for next gen is prolly it, one of my favorite open world games thi gen.

I really hope Red Dead gets a next gen sequel. It was such an awesome game.

So who do I have to Blow for making this happen ?

Awesome news indeed. RDR is one of my favourites and a contender for game of the generation. I can not even imagine how purty it will look on next-gen( and PC ?) hardware.
