I think I have a Windows 10 USB recovery that might work for this, but have questions about stuff I've done to this computer I want to undo.

It's an ASUS RoG gaming laptop:

System Model GL702VM
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2592 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 32.0 GB
Name NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 ( kind of dated graphics )

Storage on SSD and Hard drive

A few years ago, I added a partition to the SSD and HDD to make room for Linux Mint and this also modified the boot sector. Basically, at boot a menu pops up and I select Windows or Linux.

I'm hoping a fresh install helps improve the system or declutters it. I want to undo my partitions because what I did made the Windows part of the SSD smaller so temp files start to fill it up.

I guess one of my main questions is if I wipe the drives, would the Windows installer fix the boot sector?

I wish you the best of luck, and hope that there is someone on this forum that can guide you.

There is a way for sure, trying to figure that out? Surely someone will have answers.

I'm only giving you a s***ty response because I tried doing a "fresh" install of windows 11 not that long ago, tried EVERYTHING, and I was simply upgrading my storage capacity on an NVME drive, I I just ended up going f' it. Samsung Magician can clone it.

But I wanted to do a clean install, and I swear to god it would get to 20% and fail over and over again.

So it's like.......I can't even give you advice here, but yeah there are serious IT dudes on here I believe.

Let's help a brother out eh?

Had one fail, but 2nd try worked and I got the partitions back the way I wanted.

I think the first time, the installer threw a fit over the Ext4 drive formats from the Linux side. So, I used a bootable Linux USB with Gparted to clear out everything and format to NTFS.

2nd try went smoothly and put in the normal Windows MBR.

I got what I wanted which was more efficient space for games and eventually 3D work I want to do. I'm hoping that incidentally decluttering the laptop will make somethings run better like VR performance, but will see.

Going to drop in Steam and Oculus and let the downloads start as well as let it run collecting the Windows Updates.

As for the previous setup, I like Linux with the very quick access to free software and just simply not being susceptible to Windows Viruses.

Sorry for the late responses. Yeah looks like you solved the issue. That being said.....I run my Linux on a VM on my Windows 11 machine.
