Pretty much describes myself but I'm sure it will become more balanced once the price point reaches parity.

We already know that the PlayStation 4 has taken a strong lead in the early goings of the latest console generation, but where are those millions of customers coming from? According toDealNews, one of the key factors to Sony’s success has been converting the “swing gamers” — Xbox owners who have decided to ditch the Microsoft brand for PlayStation this generation.

A survey of 1,727 readers revealed that 35% of gamers who owned both the Xbox 360 and PS3 have opted to purchase a PlayStation 4 while only 23% bought an Xbox One. Brand loyalty was a major selling point for gamers who only owned one last-gen console, but “dual owners” are skewed in Sony’s direction, primarily because of the enhanced specifications. Whether or not the ongoing 1080p controversy will stick around as headline news for much longer remains to be seen, but it’s certainly turned some heads post-launch.

You can see a chart of the dual owner preference below:

Yeah Sony has the mindshare so far. And probably for the long haul.

Microsoft needs to pump out great games and lower their asking price. It's a great console. But I can see why some would switch or pick up the PS4 first.

It's kind of interesting that Neither is at 27%. A lot of folks are upgrading their PC's or waiting for more games/pricedrops.

Yeah, some probably researched that the jump isn't as significant as the jump from the PS2/Xbox to PS3/360 so decided to hold off for now or like you said, upgrade their PC's.

Had 360 and PS3 but only have a PS4 now. May get an X1 in a year or two.

Lol? That's how surveys and statistics have always operated. And it is actually great method to gather information about the whole.

Problem is, you can survey a different 1700 people and get a totally different answer. Surveys suck ass as do the predictions made from them.

I still find it mind boggling how badly MS read their own base and how far off they actually were. It really cut into consumer trust and what they had built up over the course of the two previous generations. Too many suits in the kitchen and not enough gamers. Then again, the handwriting had been on the wall since 2010.

It's a 12% difference from a limited survey, hardly departing. That means that if Sony sells 100,000,000 consoles MS sells 88,000,000. It's insignificant.
