S.H.I.E.L.D.!

Yeah, this last episode was pretty good.

Too bad we have to wait until March 4th to see what happens next. :smash:

It's almost like ABC is taking a page out of FOX's book on how not to handle a Joss Whedon production properly.

I just can't get over the fact that there is not a single person with a power on the team. It literally kills the show for me. Heroes was 10x better. I don't even remember what ep I stopped watching at but maybe I'll pick it up again when I'm super bored.

Technically Sky could be the one on the show with the powers but they haven't manifested yet.

What I don't get is how many people want to see super powers on the team. The whole point of the show is that they're humans fighting against super powered people and things. The whole point is how do they deal with these threats, how do they go on with their lives when it goes wrong.

I agree with Bodhi tho, I have a feeling that Sky is going to end up having some sort of power(s), that her parents will end up having been two super heroes, hence all the hush hush on her origins.

Seems like the slow burn will result in a more satisfying payoff.
I like how Deathlok was built up slowly and how the season's story arc story is starting to tie together, rather than the seemingly self-contained early eps.

That's how Whedon works, it makes sense that his brother and sister in law who worked with him in the past on projects like Dollhouse (which I felt wasn't given a fair shake) would follow the same trend. To me, when it comes to televised serials the beginning and end of the best is Buffy and Angel, both of which started off slow, even Angel which by all rights was the fourth season of the main characters story arc. If they can capture that same build up that Joss and Co. did with Buffy and Angel then season 2 will be better and season 3 will be some of the most amazing serialized TV we will ever see.

I've kept every single episode of SHIELD on my DVR and the second the season finale ends I'll start from the beginning and binge watch the entire season, probably multiple times before season 2 (should that happen) premieres.

I just can't take it seriously when it's in the "Marvel" universe with no powers lol. I just think the show would have been a lot better if at least one or 2 of them were "special". It comes off as corny to me because of it.

I'll still end up finishing it but it could have been so much better. =)

The characters in the Batman and Arrow universes don't have powers (well most of them from what I know), do they come off as corny? Iron Man doesn't have powers, just amazing tech.

I'm not trying to be combative here, I just don't understand why they should have powers. May is bad ass personified, no powers required, as is Ward. I personally like the premise of how "normals" get along in this "new" world now that the entire world knows these beings and technology exist, for any of them to have powers would cheapen that aspect.

We have 3 Iron Man movies, 2 Thor movies, soon we'll have a 2nd Cap movie and Avengers movie. To me it's kind of cool to see how the other half lives.

Now if they could just up the pace of the show so that people don't lose interest before it really gets into the meat and potatoes I'll be much happier. Personally I'm happy with it as is but most people aren't as patient as I am to see it all fleshed out.

Can. Not. Wait! :bang:

Yep. The show is starting to get really interesting and the tie ins with the cinematic universe are getting more substantial and not just "oh I know Thor".

Planning to watch Shield on Hulu-Plus (and Arrow!) tonight. Cannot wait!

It's most likely a...

Kree, who are an alien species we will see in Guardians of the Galaxy. The's a theory that Marvel are planning on using the Inhumans in the place of mutants/X-Men, and they'll need to establish the Kree a little to do that. It could also be a Gnobian, another alien race linked to Baron Strucker who we'll see in Avengers 2.

AGREED. Definitely links with GOTG

They name dropped the Kree in tonights ep (not a spoiler), so the rumour that they don't have the rights to the Kree seems to be defunct now. I'm watching the show more to figure out where they're going with this than the monster of the week episodes to be honest. They should really focus more on a story arc format next season IMO.

SIf did awesome. I felt like she didn't get much part in Thor 2. :( Hopefully maybe she'll returns for Thor 3 in the future.

I've enjoyed the show for the most part but last night this show definitely took off. I cannot wait to see what happens over the next few weeks.

Tonights episode might have been the best yet. Complete game changer.

Ahhh, I can't wait to see it tomorrow on hulu-plus! I just saw Captain America 2 early this morning and I cannot wait to see this show! I've noticed that the past few episodes of Shield has gotten a lot better now. That is definitely a good sign. Hopefully it continues that way.

I'm guessing you-know-who was "programmed" by his SO back in the day which would explain his actions at the end ...

Yeah, I have a feeling you're right, Biggles. That's the only explanation for it because I did not see that coming until he asked to go with Victoria Hand. I mean he has this heartfelt chat with "her" and then he's all "I want to leave ASAP, boss!".

It just doesn't track that he drank the kool-aid voluntarily.

Oh my God!!! I just finished watching "Turn, Turn, Turn" and it was the best show so far!!! Oh my God... That was truly epic!! There's no doubt that the show has been improved A LOT and I'm felling in love with it, already. People who lost interested in Shield because it was "boring," "slow", etc., definitely NEED to come back and check it out. Oh my God, I can't believe it. Can't wait to see what SHIELD has to offer within the next few weeks!

Yea I really hope it'll get a season 2. Recent episodes have shown massive improvements and now we have an actual story arc that's throwing twists and turns every episode. I'm getting the feeling we are on the verge of people with super powers starting to show up too.

This is what I was saying when people were doubting this show. Sure, it wasn't amazing at the start, but neither were Buffy or Angel and look how great they ended up and how popular the former became and still is to this day.

To be honest though, I kind of hope that should there be a second season that they go the 13 episode route so that they can weed out the more unwelcome (slow/boring) stuff and keep up a good pace of action/drama.
