I haven’t played SR since part 2. Those first two games were great. I have all the games since 2 from GwG just haven’t got around to them. From what I heard they went pretty out there.

If I had to rank them I would go 2,3,4,1. I remember the original Saints Row blowing my mind on the Xbox 360 as I flew through a windshield after a head on collision, with massive v-sync tearing all the while.

I can still remember being impressed by the first game that if you double tapped Y to exit a vehicle he jumped out more quickly. Those games really did get absurd. Would like it if this new iteration was something of a soft reboot and as dbled34 said, went back to basics....

4 is by far the funniest in the series but 1 and 2 the better games overall

I remember 2 being amazing, but enjoyed them all. 2 was great because it came out around the same time that GTA 4 did. GTA was going for that more realistic feel, while SR2 stuck to the refreshing formula of mindless fun. (Rockstar games are sooo overrated).

I'm glad to see the series isn't dead. Though I enjoyed Agents of Mayhem ( attempted Spiritual reboot) I'm glad its lukewarm reception didn't kill the series.

Thinking on it, I think I only ever got to Saint's Row the Third, and maybe played a little bit of 4 (that was the one where you were the president and got alien super powers right?) At any rate, I'd like for it to just be a more scaled back version while not losing all of it's craziness, but just pump the brakes a bit, meaning I'd rather play as a no name thug working his way up the ranks of a gang than starting the game as president of the united states...

I’ve loved all the Saints Row games, they are actually pretty different from one another which is rare for sequels

Yeah, quite odd that a game less than a year out is still debuting with a cg trailer. They showed a quick montage of gameplay as well that looked decent enough but I wanna see even just a short bit of uninterrupted gameplay to get a sense of how it actually looks in motion. I think the highly negative reaction to the game is quite absurd tbh though. There are people complaining that it's a new city and new characters ffs. It's a reboot, they called it a reboot from the outset. It's just insane to me that people are mad that it's not more of the same because I know if it had been people would just be calling it a re-skin / Saint's Row 3.5 and all the other stuff you hear when a sequel doesn't change enough.

I'm not sure how you could continue the series. They literally brought the whole thing into space and even hell. Earth was destroyed.

haha, exactly man. I think the negative response I've seen this game getting is completely asinine. I get that the cg trailer has some eye-rollingly corny interactions between characters and what not, but I don't think it was super representative of how the game will be. And saint's row has always leaned into the cornball, over-the-top side of things anyway, especially once GTA started getting more grounded, Saint's Row was the antithesis of the direction GTA went, quite deliberately. Now I see people saying "this isn't the saint's row I fell in love with". It's just so stupid.

I don't think we know enough about how the game works to make any sort of judgement call on what it's like at this point. I like the potential of playing as a start up crew, rippin' off rival gang deals and building your own gang and all that. And doing it with an untethered coop system is a cherry on the top. I think there is plenty of potential to enjoy this game, more so than there is bothersome characters and art styles anyway...

Rebooting it so this is either set before all that or they went back in time and lost the tech

I loved SR1 and 2. Never played any of 3 on. Those games any good? I think I have some of them through GwG.
Yes! I loved 3 and liked 4. They are more goofy in tone than the first 2, but well worth playing. SR3 remastered is Series X enhanced too and the developers have said it’s their favorite game of the series as well.

They showed snippets of gameplay...I know it's early in development, but it doesn't look like anything new. The visuals/animations, in particular look last gen.

The characters look cringe as hell. Could you imagine Johnny Gat with this group? “Kevin wants to be a chef”….oh lord

They are focusing way too much on the "millennial" nonsense, NOBODY LIKES MILLENNIALS not even millennials lol. Some are upset that they think it's "overly woke" because every main character on your team is a minority (in America at least) but the main character can be whatever you want him/her to be. It didn't help that the only white guy in the CGI trailer was a bad guy but I'm sure there are a lot of people of other skin tones who could say they've seen more than a few movies where the only people who looked like them were bad guys.

I hope it's fun, at first I thought that we had t play as that female character in the trailer because the actress who voiced her said she plays "The Boss" but in reality she's only 1 of 8 options we'll have for voices, once they cleared up I was mostly fine with it. I need to see more uninterrupted gameplay, the game comes out in 5 months so hopefully they show more than a bunch of quick cut stuff soon and that'll make it easier to judge.

Looks like an expansion to Watch Dogs Legion minus the hacking and random playable characters. Watch Dogs Legion was wack.
