Holy f*** people. They destroyed the original Xbox and Xbox 360 numbers by INSANE AMOUNTS. Very impressive.
Yeah. Goes to show console gaming isn't dead and Wii U is definitely not an indicator of the overall industry. The fact X1 and PS4 have sold just as many systems and games each at $100-200 more in about 2 months which Wii U did in 12 months shows a problem with Nintendo, not Sony, MS or the overall industry.

Both X1 and PS4 are $400-500 each yet they are selling great. Much more than 360 and PS3 did at $300-600. Basically the same ballpark of pricing and this generation doesn't have PS3's BR player innovation either as a bonus feature. By now, I think most people who want a BR player have one as you can get one for $50-70. So the interest is the gaming + the media hub set up consoles can do which last gen people know about.

With tablet and smartphone gaming, PC gaming doing well and consoles now starting a new generation, the industry is healthy sales wise. It comes down to costs which is a big stickler as so many studios have gone belly up.

Wow, heck of a comeback Microsoft. Sold less than the WiiU the week before Christmas, then had the fastest selling week in console history after Christmas. (if you believe what you read on the internet that is)

Good work.

LOL! It always makes me laugh when some fanboy uses VGchartz as their source for sales, even though they are never accurate. EVER.

Also, it is debatable that the Kinect is the reason the X1 is doing so well. MS is selling their console to a broader base of customer than just the gamer. Not to say the X1 doesn't have games. In fact, it had the best variety of games out the gates when compared to the PS4 and Wii U. So they are covering all their bases.

Its almost like they planned to make an all in one entertainment device for a reasonable price. OMG what an ideal that would of been, oh wait it is! Yay

Actually, MS said "over 3 million", so unless someone is assuming they sold 3,000,001 units, they are probably at more like 3.1 or 3.2M. I highly doubt it's at 3.5M or more or else they would have said so.

So using the 3:1 ratio, PS4 should be more like 9.3-9.6M.

Should be a slam dunk. Triple the countries, $100 cheaper, no PS Eye bundled in, better PR, God Man Mark Cerny everywhere, and most important thing of all according to forum posters during the spring and summer...... all those hard nosed internet polls, especially the one many gamers were so focused on..... the Gamestop PS4 Information E-mail List.
The reveal was a disaster. E3 was an epic come back. They f***ing plastered us with games, games and more games.
where are these games? the next gen is lacking thus far in games

A bit more lackluster on the PS4 imo.

Dead Rising 3 (honestly one of the best games I've ever played, on any console) and Ryse are big big hits on the X1 despite all the complaining about them pre launch. Both games are still sold out since Christmas in all the stores near me. Hopefully Ryse will be back in stock this week.

Not IMO anyway besides a couple 3rd party offerings the next gen has been slow as a snail game release wise :-/
Titansfall and Infamous SS are the 2 next big games unless TR turns out good but that's it...RIGHT? I think BF4 premium will prob offer the most for this 1st year of this gen for me. anyway now I'm rambling

Yeah, it's definitely slow with the good titles alright. TR with the 1080p/60fps bump will be nice, but yeah, I'm only getting it because Titanfall is still three months away. I'm going to hold off on my PS4 until around when Second Son comes out.

Are you a gamer? Where are the games?!?!?!?

Let's see you have THE 3 biggest sports franchises on release (FIFA, Madden, NBA2K), the #1 critically acclaimed racer (Forza), and 2 of the top FPS's (COD, BF4)...PLUS what is considered the greatest zombie game every made (DR3), new IP's like Ryse, and a host of pretty decent arcade/indie titles and you are asking where are the games???? Really??? (Maybe for your tastes, but for the masses this is a major delivery from the get-go).

Drought since launch but I think most expected that. Course just had Max which is fun from what I've played so far.

Yep, both consoles had a lackluster launch, hence why I got rid of mine. Simply not worth it "for me" at this time.

This year I'll buy into one, not sure which one yet, I'll wait to see what games come out.

I have to agree. I got the PS4 first with Ghosts, BF4, Killzone and Black Flag. All of which are good games but are familiar territory. Then I got my XBO about two weeks ago with Ryse and Dead Rising and after reading so much negativity about those two games I'm at a loss as to why they got such a bad rap, especially Ryse which is great fun.

The new generation is off to a great start. I'm a happy gamer.

Only reason I'm picking up Ryse is the constant praise it's getting from practically everyone who plays it. Worst case scenario I'll trade it back in for Tomb Raider if I don't like it but I am looking forward to eventually getting my hands on a copy.

That is a lot of consoles at $500. Amazing to see a console sell like that.

You didn't watch their E3 conference? You should check it out. From beginning to end they displayed games for the Xbox One. No dancers, no music, no rappers, no Kinect kiddie lovefest. It was game after game after game. They rocked E3.

It is definitely a better game than the hater jealous types would have you believe. There are points during the game where the display graph is presenting scenes that best of state of the art on any platform. But it is not a great game in any sense. It will eventually be a Games With Gold game.

It only took me two evenings to get everything out of the game that I wanted to.

Dead Rising 3 is getting excellent ratings. Awesome game.

Lol why would anyone be a jealous hater of a game like ryse?
Is that why its rated so bad!?

Only @uvf

Have you played it? It is actually quite fun. Especially once you get into the game past the tutorials. Even kotaku liked it, which surprised me.

No it is rated bad because of Sony's bribes. I checked, every last one of the red reviews on metacritic received a 3 day stay at a 4 star hotel, a free monogrammed personalized PS4, and all the launch games all for free, from Sony. How did I check you may ask? If you click through to each and every ones twitter account, you will see that 100% of them mention being at the Sony payola event.

In that it is certainly a better game than every other game that received a 60% on metacritic, for example Boku Sudoku, I submit that the Sony "gifts" to these reviewers undisputably had an impact.

Im curious, when a player is caught point shaving in professional sports, how do you feel about that? Is that ethical conduct?

Wanna call me paranoid? Adam Sessler has the EXACT SAME PROBLEM with the Sony mass media bribing event.

So it be clear is was SONY that was a jealous hater of Ryse, and thats why they paid the media to give it low ratings. Ryse is the why Sony decided to focus on resolution in their media brocade rather than how the games look, because Ryse looks better than not only any PS4 game, but any PC game out there (at the moment).

Glad to see we're keeping Sony/PS4 out of this...

p.s. Just so I'm clear -- Ryse got bad reviews because Sony paid off the reviewers? lol. wow.
