True. If you go off the net then its 100% IMPOSSIBLE to buy a PS4 and yet Sony's numbers keep jumping up ;)
There are in some other nations. Sony launch PS4 in far more nations, obviously the supply will be thin in each individual nation.

I think this is a better strategy then MS, as, when MS finally launches in these nations, they already have a healthy lead.

Something many are missing is that its the games that will inevitably sell these consoles. Since we are past the hardware battle, its now a software battle to be sure. Good times ahead!

Well, many argue that the PS4 doesn't have a strong line up of software right now yet it's selling like hot cakes, go figure. The real question is when the software starts coming, will it maintain the rate of sales or even boost it further?

Hardware battle is not over yet, as PS4s are still tough to find.

Well, the current software is questionable imho. But, I gather most are buying the Ps4 now because of the price. Its hard to pass up very powerful hardware at $399 with the promise of favorite Sony exclusives in the future. I wouldnt buy a console just because it has a lower price....there has to be games I want to play too. Thats just me. But I cant blame anyone who's picked one up already.

The software line-up argument is flawed. There are many great cross-plats out now so why can't that in itself be a reason to buy a next gen system? I know I'm personally loving it and it's the reason I bought a next gen system at launch.

It isn't even close yet the PS4 has been out for a week longer at a cheaper price, and was released in more countries, yet it's only a 1 mil gap? Okay then.

Calling the battle over now is silly you are right, don't forget though that Sony only had a week head start in NA, everywhere else that both machines competed head to head MS had a week head start. Also when they reported these sales numbers MS used their cut off point as Dec 31 while Sony used Dec 28 so again the time frame really isn't playing into this much IMO. Most of the countries Sony released in that MS didn't also got a limited supply of consoles so honestly I really doubt they'd have had a hard time selling more machines than MS even if they had only released in 13 countries themselves.

1.2 million gap and do you think X1 could sell that in a week?
Its not close as the PS4 has distanced itself in the lead.

So you're leaning on even more sales once the software picks up since you're picking one up as well once Infamous comes out, IIRC.

I'm thinking if more PS4's were available the X1 would of sold even less as X1 was the other option for parents who couldn't get the PS4 this Christmas so the PS4 should distance itself more now that the holidays are over.

True.

The same also applies to X1. If it was also available in the 35 extra countries PS4 launched in, X1 would have sold more as well. Along with some gamers buying X1 instead of PS4.

It sure could. Especially if the Xbox One was as cheap as the PS4 and launched in the same amount of countries. Don't count your chickens before they're hatched. A 3 mil lead isn't a safe bet alone a measly 1.2 mil lead.

And PS4s selling out everywhere is total bulls***. Sony shorted the supply to make the demand higher. That will hurt Sony soon after the hype settles down. Microsoft is doing a much better job meeting demand.

The Xbox One's sales are much more impressive at this point given all the negative press, $500 price tag, and launching a week later in less countries than the PS4.

Sony has every advantage right now and they were barely able to squeeze out a 1.2 mil lead with supposed secret sauce superior hardware.

How do you know this? Have they released numbers on units manufactured and shipped?

Can u find a place a place where there's an abundance of units not being sold?

Come on now, we know they're selling as quick as they're sent out. What...do you think there's millions of units in these 40 countries not sold?

4.2 sold in less than 2 months and Sonys shorting supply? FOH lol we all know that you're happy about PS4s sales.

a few posters here(xbox fans) claim they always see them in stock

xbox 13 countries 3 million
average of 230000 per country
ps4 at least 50-60 countries 4.2 million
average of 84000 per country

xbox still to launch in other countries

It won't hurt Sony in the least.

No it won't
Considering everybody has raved about the game that has actually played it, and it's Microsoft's marquee title for the year, regardless of the empty noise that people who don't even know about the game are making about the perfectly acceptable 6 vs. 6, it will be the highest selling exclusive on either console

I think that depends on if people get sick of waiting for a PS4 because they can't find one and start buying up the Xbox One. If it's not on the shelves, gamers are going to go elsewhere. This isn't the same case as the Wii when Nintendo was purposely not meeting demand to spark interest. Because the Wii was going to sell to the casuals and core gamers no matter what at that price. Hardcore gamers aren't going to wait around for Sony to start stocking shelves. They'll just pick up an X1 once they see the superior games coming out.

And I'm sure they do come up, hence why they sell....but let's be honest, they pushed over 4 million units in a small amount of time. Anyone saying that they're "holding back stock" is reaching at laughable levels. "If" they're holding back, that just means....wait for it....even MORE could be sold. lol

This is good news, I hope it pushes sony even harder even though they have a slight lead. I really did not expect MS to be this close, I figured they would come on strong year 2-3. To put things in perspective 3 million units is 1/8 what the original xbox sold total :)
