Some details on digital bring included in the UK charts...

What is missing?

There is no Nintendo eShop data. Plus, Nintendo, Bethesda and Konami are the notable big names missing from the publisher list.

In addition, there is no data from smaller publishers and developers. This means that if a game was to be a breakout hit (for example: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) it will be missing from the charts.

This is a full-game download chart only. It does not track DLC sales or microtransaction revenue.

So it seems pretty incomplete...

It is incomplete, but it is a lot better than what was available before. Almost every major boxed publisher is included in this data, so now - at least when it comes to AAA releases - we can see how they are performing with better accuracy. There should be no media guesswork over how games are performing digitally.

In the future, the hope is that more companies will come on-board, more retailers will support the charts, and that DLC and microtransactions can be included to create a global revenue chart. This month's new chart is very much a first step

NPD:

  1. Nintendo Switch: 1.77M
  2. Xbox One: 920K
  3. PlayStation 4: 797K
https://mynintendonews.com/2019/01/...lling-console-in-us-during-december-2018/amp/
We won't get numbers till around the 10th-15th.
I believe Switch did well and could of won as it has b4 but the rest of that is LOL worthy.

Early NPD (US) reports (leaks) suggest that the Nintendo Switch not only was the best selling console in December, but outsold both PS4 and Xbox One combined!

‘Benji’ (reputable sales insider) predicts #NintendoSwitch sold over 2 mil units, X1 around 1 mil & PS4 less than 1 mil.

Still crazy to me that Majora's Mask only sold half of what Ocarina of Time did, despite being a very comparable game in my opinion. Of course OoT is better, but Majora's Mask was fantastic.

It's not, based on the numbers each company reported PS4 was #1

It's crazy when people keep saying we'll be doing online only streaming consoles soon, PS4 has sold over 90 million consoles but the amount of PS+ subscribers is far less than half of that at 36 million. That 36 million number is impressive and it's bringing in a lot of money but when the majority of your customers aren't willing to pay for an online service what makes anyone think the industry will be ready to move to an online only console anytime soon?

So PSN alone brought in more money for Sony than all of Nintendo made last year and all of MS's gaming division revenue brought in for MS, that's just PSN that's not including hardware and physical game sales, that's crazy.

Cool but 10 cents still dwarf Sony & all other game companies, & gaming isn't even their core business.
