You need to understand in context what Val is trying to insinuate. It's his weird way of trying to say that XB1 not only did worse than PS4, but would have done even worse if more PS4s were in stores. He insinuates this, because he's trying to push this idea that the PS brand is so much more popular than XB, when we all know that for the past few years, XB has been dominating in software sales, which tells us that XB is the more popular brand.

Actually, in the scheme of things I don't know if supply is even a big factor in whether/when the price is dropped anyway. Really, it'll all come down to demand. When people are demanding the X1 enough for MS to justify a $500 price tag, then the price will drop. I think supply right now is just an indication that the demand is plenty high enough. As time goes on though, it probably won't be as good of a indication.

In all seriousness, you must not have kids. I could see if the X1 was only 20-30-40, or even $50 more than the Ps4 then this type of scenario could be justified. But at a whole $100 more and you have kids; you'll want to know why and if its worth it to do so.

Hell, if I didnt know anything about video games and a Best Buy representative told me that console B was 100$ more, I secretly would want to know what the hell that console could also do for me (possibly) as well as little Timmy.

Its a ridiculous statement. We are having this conversation now as we speak and I still feel as if he pulled that ludicrous statistic from his ass. We arent talking about a mere 30$ to 50$ difference here. We're talking about $100 more. Bottom line. Besides, I dont care for Ketto much. Never have really.

Why on earth would you do a price drop when the console is selling at its current price point? There's no logic behind it. You're speaking from a consumer standpoint. You want Microsoft to take the loss to make things more convenient for you but these guys are in this to turn profit, residual profit, for the long term.

There's simply no reason to drop the price right now. 3 million + at $499 and its still selling like hotcakes.

They were selling neck to neck at the beginning, but while XBOX one are widely available now, PS4 is still sold out within hours of sightings. At this tread, its not hard to interpolate the information that they will fall further behind.

Its not just about doing well, which they are, its also about doing better than the competition, unless I heard otherwise from them.

I am not saying they should do a price drop now, but they certainly need to think about it now.

I have not heard about PS4 sales slowed, seriously. Last time I checked, its sold out online & in store, at least in my area, while XBOX one are available at every shop/mall that sold consoles. Again, only in my area.

If there is indication of slowed demand for PS4, I honestly like to know, so I can predict the sales trend (for fun sake)

I think Playstation has a stronger brand globally, but Xbox seems really strong in the US, perhaps about the same as Playstation. It probably differs among different demographics, though.

But I have noticed on casual social media like Tumblr, any of the posts that come up on my dashboard have been about the PS4. I seriously haven't seen one person posting about getting the X1.

He was responded to something that is most likely factually correct. I'm sure there are plenty of people that will spend the money to get something other than what they wanted, be it 30, 50, 100, or a thousand more. There is a reason why bait and switch is a popular tactic.

Whether or not it made a difference in these sales are not the point, he was responded to you're "you don't throw money" comment, when in the real world, people do.

It could provide a decent sale boost, beside the fact that the longer they wait, the more market share they will lose to Sony in these locations.

While I'm not sure if that would make a significant amount of sales for the Xbox one but I could see some instances where this is happening.

No in the case of the ps4 breaking records being sold out everywhere and it being Christmas time its a very likely instance.

If you read it that way, with all due respect, thats on you. I whole-heartedly believe that most who purchased the Xbox One knew full well what they were getting before hand. And on that bullet point: Im speaking of the MAJORITY of console purchases.

True but I am sure there are a ton of gamers who didn't hear any of the bad press. Not everybody follows console launches like we do. I suspect a good majority of the 3 million had their minds set on XBOX ONE before it even launched.

Either it happens, or it doesn't. And yes, I'm sure studies on this have occured, and a quick web search on bait and switch "studies" show that studies have been done on the effects of bait and switch tactics.
