This is quite frankly a r******d discussion. Who cares how or why the Xbox One sold 3 million + consoles, so long as it did. On that note, I'm going to end my contribution towards this discussion. Find someone else to argue semantics with. This is ludicrous and quite frankly redundant. Whats done is done.....moving on.I take a moment? He didn't say it was enough to make a difference in sales. He was simply saying it happens. It does. And yes....you did blow up.
Either it happens, or it doesn't. And yes, I'm sure studies on this have occured, and a quick web search on bait and switch "studies" show that studies have been done on the effects of bait and switch tactics.
While it might have happened that some bought X1s because they couldn't get a PS4, well that's already done. They're X1 owners, and if they are happy about the console, MS might have won over some new fans, possibly evangelists, and the whole situation changed. It's not like the moment more PS4s arrive those people are going to throw out their X1s and get PS4s.
I think it's kind of pointless to bring up hypothetical situations. I mean, unless you want to hypothesize that a huge number of people wanted PS4s, and were not very happy with their consolation prizes. Which is a huge leap from "someone wanted to play video games and got a different console instead of the one he first intended to buy."

is he "cutting" into your turf or something? Like what I did there with "cutting"?
Do you have any evidence of this alleged study or are you just pulling all this from your ass, Ketto? Because honestly, something smells like bulls***!
f*** sakes.
You know what? Never mind. You're not worth my time responding to from here...
Well, that escalated quickly.
Another winning post from a winning poster
Yeah, where I am at, the PS4's are in store along side of the X1's. Best Buy, Walmart.I have not heard about PS4 sales slowed, seriously. Last time I checked, its sold out online & in store, at least in my area, while XBOX one are available at every shop/mall that sold consoles. Again, only in my area.
If there is indication of slowed demand for PS4, I honestly like to know, so I can predict the sales trend (for fun sake)

See my last point. Pressure from competition.
Unless MS is selling every xbox one they made (not anymore, xbox can be found everywhere), they run the risk of falling behind in market share even further as PS4 is selling almost every unit they made, & selling more at the moment. They were selling neck to neck at the beginning, but while XBOX one are widely available now, PS4 is still sold out within hours of sightings. At this tread, its not hard to interpolate the information that they will fall further behind.
Its not just about doing well, which they are, its also about doing better than the competition, unless I heard otherwise from them.
I am not saying they should do a price drop now, but they certainly need to think about it now.
We had a proper discussion, whether we agree with each other opinions, we manage to keep it civil, but you have come out to make a personal attack.Your line of thinking is idiotic.
That's a good idea. Witcher 3 with XBOX in Poland will also do wonders.Take a risk MS and do a day one Titan Fall bundle with 3 months of gold sub.
Forget that take an even bigger risk. All day 1 owners get Titenfall or Halo 5 FREE!talking of price drop, in the US and Aus price is fine. UK and EU needs a drop or a great bundle.

They'd be stupid not to.I wonder if MS will offer a Titanfall bundle?
Yeah, good for a few console sales. Need a big exclusive every 3 months in the 1st year to keep sales rolling...They'd be stupid not to.
Sega was close to Nintendo but not Sony...
Nintendo needs to show me something special and fast or I am selling the Wii U for a X1.
Can I try this? I know a bunch of people that bought PS4's because they couldn't find Xbox Ones. Did I do it right?
alright...
at my local target looking for ryse on sale (they don't have it in stock atm) ... And next to the x1 display.....
ZOMG!!!!
THEY HAZ PS4s!!!!!!!!!
well 2 of them that is...
they also have 3 X1s...
metrics!
out.
Assuming it holds up, I don't think a 4 to 3 sales ratio will make much of a real-world difference to the gaming industry. If one company was crushing the other (say 3 to 1), then 3rd parties might pull support for the less popular platform. That would matter. But 3rd parties are not going to pull support because one company's market share is 20% less than the other (or whatever the math on 4 to 3 is). Both companies have huge install bases (or will), which no 3rd parties can afford to turn their backs on.
So, for all the arguing about 4 to 3 ratios, I don't think they will have any big impact on the gaming industry. The only thing it does is demonstrate that one console is somewhat more popular than the other. Popularity doesn't mean much in itself. Beyond that, we're really arguing over something that doesn't matter a whole lot, in terms of its impact on our hobby.
No it will boil down to what it always boils down to....third parties have even less of a reason to pull support now for either x1 or ps4 due to the similar architectures...
if anything it will boil down to who has the most money to buy the exclusive rights or early release rights to new games and IP going forward...
how TF has unfolded over the past several months into an exclusive for X1 is a prime indicator of things to come...
i expect a LOT of whining on one side about how the other side is buying up all the exclusives this generation...
No it will boil down to what it always boils down to....
Which console sells the most and which puts out the best games.
