No Man's Sky sees 1 million new players thanks to Xbox Game Pass — free update out now

Over a million in a month on Steam SOLD. Pretty cool.

Sea of Thieves passes 15 million players since launch

  • Sea of Thieves has been played by more than fifteen million players since launch in March 2018.
  • June 2020 was the biggest month so far for Sea of Thieves, with over 3.3 million players setting sail.
  • Sea of Thieves has sold over 1 million copies to date on Steam since its launch on June 3, 2020.
It’s both thrilling and humbling to share with you that Sea of Thieves has been played by more than fifteen million players since our launch in March 2018.

The way that the game and its community has continued to grow has been amazing to see. It was only in January of this year when we shared that 10 million people had played the game! We’re also humbled that more people have played Sea of Thieves in the first six months of 2020 than who played in the whole of 2019, which was more than 2018.

Last month – June 2020 – was also the biggest month so far for Sea of Thieves in terms of active players, with more than 3.3M players setting sail. A contributing factor to this growth has been our recent launch on Steam. We’ve been blown away by the support we’ve seen from the Steam community, with over 1M copies of the game having been sold so far and the game regularly appearing in the top selling and most played games charts.

On behalf of all of us at Rare, I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who’s ever played Sea of Thieves for helping to get us this far. It’s a game that we love making, and there’s plenty more to come. See you on the seas.

New to Sea of Thieves? Join the fun with our Maiden Voyage, a narrative-driven tutorial experience separate from Adventure and Arena modes. New Sea of Thieves players will begin their travels within this scenario, which provides guidance and information to fledgling sailors. The accomplishment is oddly specific. That's like saying I am the best-looking person in my town who happened to like rock music, hiking, have a day job as an automotive developer, & game dev in the evening.

Monster Hunter World has shipped 16 million units and Resident Evil 3 Remake shipped 2.7 million units

the Monster Hunter series has shipped 64 million units so far; The Street Fighter franchise has shipped 45 million units, The Mega Man Series has shipped 36 million units so far, Devil May Cry series is at 22 million units currently, and Dead Rising Series has shipped 14 million units.

Sea of Thieves is like the energizer bunny. PC fans are digging it, and it's "free" on game pass for PC/Xbox.

I was wondering a rather popular newly launch game wasn't on this subforum, Genshin Impact, only to find out it wasn't on Xbox.

This isn't new, many 3rd party games either come later or never, without even SOny buying any exclusivity, like fall guys, Genshin impact, Nier to name a few, & the reason I think is installed base. Even if you do not care about" Console wars", the player base matters as consumers.

Looking at the chart, Xbox has only a 6.25% share of the game revenue, & PS4 14%. Obviously, the share in the type of games are different across the platform.

When we break down to AAA games. Data are hard to get, so far I only manage to find a breakdown from Witcher 3

Another chart of the world's biggest game market, China.

Pretty sure they did sign a deal for Fall Guys

We heard earlier today that Switch was again the best-selling console in the United States. That piece of information was more important than initially thought, as the system has set a new record.

Following what took place in September, Switch has been the best-selling console in the U.S. since December 2018. That marks 22 consecutive months that this has happened, and a new record has been set. The Xbox 360 previous held the record with 21 consecutive months, which took place between August 2011 and April 2013.
