80% of sales are on PS platform, 20% on Xbox if i am interpreting this right. That's a huge difference 😳

Resident Evil: Village has comfortably taken No.1 spot in this week's UK boxed charts, according to GfK Entertainment.

The horror game is the second biggest boxed launch of the year behind Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. 49% of its sales were on PS5, 31% on PS4 and 20% on Xbox.

Rumor looks like Returnal hasn't hit 100k sold.

And according to this site, worst performing PS5 exclusive so far.

UK Sales Charts: PS5 Roguelike Returnal Off to Slower Start Than Other Sony Exclusives

Game Over

And Returnal isn't up in top 10.

Last week's No.2 game, Returnal, falls to No.15 after an 84% drop in sales.

Well they only compare it to major Sony exclusives which doesn't seem like a fair comparison

But I think it was inevitable for it to sell less than it should because Sony didn't really promote it like it deserved.

Yeah Returnal fell off the UK physical charts after launch week which is unfortunate.

It was still #3 and 4 in top downloads though in NA and Europe respectively which is encouraging to see.

It's a massive success or a huge failure depending on who the poster is, and while we'd probably know the poster's opinion before we read it they'll nonetheless tell us about it until our eyes glaze over.
Nailed it ^

Seems soso from what I just read.

The high price to entry, niche genre didn't help either.

Having said that, I recommend it fully if you are into Roguelites, Souls like games. Very rewarding feeling after beating the game.

Rogue style game is a niche. They could have made a standard game with rogue style an option. The price is also too high.

Most gamers do not like to lose long period of process, something many game developer still do not understand. This is made worse by crushes that made you lose even more progress.

UK April Console Sales

1. Switch
2. Xbox Series
3. PS5

Nintendo Switch was comfortably the best-selling console of April 2021, unseating PS5. There was a significant drop in PS5 console stock last month, and in fact PS4 was April's best-selling PlayStation machine.

Xbox Series machines saw more units come to market, and was the second best-selling platform for the month behind Switch. Nintendo Switch and PS5 are currently neck-and-neck in terms of sales during 2021, with Xbox Series fast catching up.

Nice to see Returnal at #8 on the digital list.

Yup. My prediction was right, people definitely waiting to get a PS5 before playing Miles.

EA's Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has knocked Resident Evil: Village off the top spot.

The remastered collection of Mass Effect games was released on last generation consoles (PS4 and Xbox One), and sold best on PS4 (68% of sales). It's not a huge boxed launch for the collection, selling half of what last week's Resident Evil: Village managed. However, digital data is not available until later in the week, and it's likely the game performed far better than the physical numbers suggest.

Resident Evil: Village sits at No.2 after a relatively modest 59% drop in sales during its second week.

Rising nine places to No.3 is Spider-Man: Miles Morales, with the majority of sales (88%) coming on the PS5 version. The action game shoots up the charts on the back of new PS5 stock coming to the UK market last week. This has happened the last time more PS5 units emerged in March, and so Spider-Man appears to be the game of choice for new PS5 customers. Another game that bumped in sales on the back of PS5 stock is Assassin's Creed Valhalla at No.13, with the PS5 version of that increasing 224%. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War at No.14 also saw its PS5 version jump in sales by 49%.

Or because it has a limited number of games that actually show what the console can do so people are buying it when they finally get a console.

These games are just barely scratching the surface of what the console can do. Look at PS5 exclusives to keep pushing the industry's visual standards as more and more exclusives are released. They are the only spec that does not have to worry about slower harddrive speeds. All other consoles have to keep HDD in mind and thus will be developed around that.

I like how PS fans make the SSD like the 2nd coming of back street boys. whats next, it can cure cancer & reveal the zodiac killer?

SSD's in general are game changing. The PS5 one is an even faster one. We already see it in games with load times of 1-3 seconds to respawn after dying.

Very interested in how Ratchet uses it in gameplay.
