Because PS plus didn't condition its users to not buy games, especially first party ones that directly support the company's game studios.

A lot of users are conditioned on PS Plus to wait for games to appear on the service, including day one games. It’s why they have the PS Plus Premium option.

I mention trade ins physically for my games and even with the sales on physical copies , you support the devs way more that way because whatever retailer I bought it from like Amazon, GameStop already paid whatever price to import that into their inventory.

You wait for sales to buy games. Paying full price helps the devs. Some (minority) wait for games to be on a subscription service. Which also pays devs. You waiting for sales pays devs less. Gamers waiting for games to hit subs pay devs less.

If you are concerned more about the corporate revenues and profits than fellow gamers, you should ALWAYS pay full price. And buy the game twice. On your PC and your PS. Luckily with MS you get a lot of games that you buy once and play anywhere. Pro consumer.

Definitely not.

It depends on how much I want the game. If I want it launch month I'll do trade in promos with GameStop otherwise I'll wait if I'm not in a rush. So with Silent Hill F I did trade and paid like $10 with the extra trade in credit. The devs still get the full pay from GameStop paying for a copy. See how that works ?

Any chance us old farts don't know what the younger crowd want? Maybe lumping Fornite in GP will work out for a majority? 🤷‍♂️

The thing is, Yotei at $70 now, it will definitely be on sale with Black Friday/holidays coming (even if it is only 10-20 off). I buy a game today, chances are I barely have time to play it before it goes on sale.

Plus, BF6 launches this week. That will eat up any time I have. There really are too many good games.

I probably buy 2-3 full price games a year at the most. I think I bought 3 full price games this year and that's a bit of a splurge. I'm trying to think what I got off GP that I would have bought.

I buy a bunch of smaller indie games on sale, and the occasional discounted game at sales, but that's about it. I'm rarely looking for anything to play.

This year I bought:
AC:Shadows - put in a ton of hours into this massive open world game
PGA 2k25 - A sports game that has tons of replayabiltiy
BF6 - which will eat most of my time once it launches

For me, the limit is time. I simply won't have any other time for games when BF6 launches. I'm even out of the more live service type games like Destiny and Diablo and I still lack time.

Plus when you add in the backlog of games from previous year, buying new full priced games loses its appeal fast.

Nintendo Switch 2 Helps Boost Hardware Sales By 32%

For the third consecutive month since its release, the Nintendo Switch 2 led the way in sales in the United States (US) for August 2025.

According to the latest data from Circana, released on Wednesday, the Switch 2 was the top system in both units sold and dollars for the month. The system’s strong sales were “able to able to offset double-digit percentage declines across each of PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Switch.”

Looking at the numbers, video game hardware sales rose by 32% year-over-year for August to $312M. In year-to-date numbers, sales have reached $2.9 billion, a 20% jump from last year’s numbers at this time.

Sticking with the Switch 2, Nintendo’s latest console has passed 2.4 million units sold in the US as of August 30. That puts it 5% ahead of the pace of the PlayStation 4’s 2.2 million sold in its first three months. Comparing it to the original Switch, which launched for just $299 in 2017, unit sales are currently 77% ahead of pace for the Switch 2.

Moving to accessories, spending there fell by 6% year-over-year to $169 million. That said, the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller was, once again, the best-selling accessory in terms of both units sold and total dollars. One area that did increase, however, was in racing accessories. Sales increased by 7% year-over-year while total year-to-date sales rose 3% to $78M.
