consolewarz was claiming the metrics were "3:1" well before release, but was predicting a 2:1 ratio after release once supply caught up with demand.

But I don't think he posts here anymore.. stupid to reference either way. Both consoles are doing well, Sony is doing upwards of 25% better worldwide with a small lead in NA.. most people didn't make super solid sales predictions either way before release, the mood was that PS4 would have more hype.. and it does.

Especially with TF coming out soon.

It will be interesting to see what kind of impact Titanfall and Infamous may have on console sales. On one hand TF looks like it will be massive but it's also coming out on 360 and PC. Infamous will have a smaller base but I believe that it's only playable on PS4.

I don't see anything else coming until next holiday that could provide more of a console sales bump than these 2 titles.

Well of all announced games for this year MS has the biggest exclusive with Halo 5. I'm sure Sony will announce something at E3.

I can't imagine it selling well on pc.

RIP Wii-U.
Wii U was done like dinner a year ago. But for Nintendo, not a big deal. They have so much money and their handhelds still do well that having these annual losses lately of a few $100M here and there is a drop in the bucket.

All it takes is their next console to get traction back and they are back (assuming their handhelds keep doing well).

But Nintendo is in a different situation than Sony and MS. They have various divisions to spread things across. Nintendo is gaming. Console hardware. A console for the TV and a handheld. If one does well, it's fine. If both do well, that's great. But if there ever comes a time both do lousy for a long stretch then it will be painful.

Nintendo's handhelds have done well right from Gameboy... a good 25 years. Always dominated while their consoles have been hit and miss. 3DS still sells like crazy. Doesn't seem smartphone and tablet gaming has affected them much. On the other hand, Sony and MS consoles have taken a hit out of Wii U.

Sorry, meant for next-gen consoles.

I can agree with that. I don't think Nintendo's first party stuff will ever be an issue as far as quality goes, but unfortunately for them that is only part of the equation.

I just think those markets are so much smaller.. and less in tune with the crazy marketing/Christmas sales NA market where so many companies do upwards of 70-90% of their business.

US followed by the UK are by far THE most important Christmas time markets. They also buy more games and accessories.. just bigger consumers in general.

And for MS those are markets that may not have been very successful for them in the first place.

I think some of you never been to Europe, or other Asia nations, or at least step to a game shop there, The shelf space of XBOX 360 is not much different from PS3. Unless you purposely count the shelf sapce, you probably wouldn't see the difference.

The reality is XBOX one have at the minimal, the same chance of becoming the market leader as Sony, in just about every region other than Japan. That is of course before the announcement & Post E3, with the bad press, resogates & significantly price Premium (in regions where economy may not be doing good).

But its still early, & thing as can change. Hot exclusives, & a price drop can do wonders to boost sales.

I am not suggesting that MS should stop shipping new xbox one in the 13 regions it was release, but some of these supplies could be redirected to other markets before losing to Sony when people get tired of waiting, especially when supplies are not restricted by demand (evidence by XBOX being widely available).

Good numbers all around. Even Wii U had its best month in ages.

I wonder how much closer that 1.2 million WW gap would be narrowed if the XB1 was also $399? Or how much the gap would be widened with more available PS4 stock?

Anyway I'm glad to have all three. I'm just ready for more games.

Maybe you've never bothered to look at sales I'm those regions?

PS3 essentially won every region outside of NA/UK/Australia.

Beyond that it doesn't change my main point . North America makes the rest of the world look like peasants when it comes to consumer spending during the holiday season.

Nintendo shares plunge 18% on loss warning

Shares of Japan's Nintendo plunged as much as 18% on Monday after the gaming giant issued a profit warning.

On Friday, Nintendo said it expects to make an operating loss of 35bn yen ($335m; £205m) for the financial year ending 31 March 2014.

It had initially forecast an operating profit of 100bn yen for the period.

The company blamed weaker-than-expected sales of its Wii U console during the holiday season for the downgrade in its earnings forecast.

As a result, it lowered its global Wii U sales forecast for the business year from nine million to 2.8 million units - a cut of nearly 70%.

Nintendo also reduced the sales forecast for its 3DS console from 18 million to 13.5 million units.

The firm's shares fell to as low as 11,935 yen on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Monday.

Mario on mobile?

The maker of Super Mario and Donkey Kong had previously hoped to match the global success of its original Wii game console which helped raise the firm's shares to a record high in 2007.

The company had, till three months ago, backed its initial forecasts for Wii U sales despite setbacks in markets such as the UK.

In July last year, UK supermarket chain Asda said it would no longer be selling the Wii U in its stores.

But the gaming giant has faced stiff competition from rival console makers including Microsoft with its new Xbox One, and Sony with its new PlayStation 4.

At the same time, some console makers are moving towards allowing users to play their games without the need to own a console.

Earlier this month, Sony announced plans to make its games available over a variety of devices, including its smart TVs as well as other third-party products.

Analysts said that given these factors, Nintendo - which has so far not allowed its games to be played on tablets or other mobile devices, needed to re-evaluate its strategy.

"Its console-based business model spells doom for stakeholders," analysts at Jefferies wrote in a note. "It has no choice but to accept the change."

"We believe Mario on mobile is coming."

Looks like I was wrong about the Wii U and it makes no sense its such a nice system :(Very likely to ditch it for a X1 now.

LOL selling your system because its not selling? Wow, no way I'm missing out on Kart, Smash, Zelda etc.

Don't want a paper weight and its obvious Nintendo doesn't have a clue anymore.
Zelda,Metroid,Starfox and greatly improved sales might make me get another.

LOL Why did you buy one at all if you don't like Nintendo games? You talked so much ss*** about MS and kinect and talked how awesome Wii U is. now you want to sell your Wii U and get an XB1 What a fake.

I do like Nintendo games but the titles I like from them aren't available and nothing on the console is worth me keeping it.I been hanging on since launch man...with reports of HORRIBLE sales I dunno if I can anymore.
Fake nah...it would take a blind fanboy to not see how bad things are looking.

Being Nintendo hasn't met my criteria and I like what I saw with the X1....isn't helping the Wii U.
