BTW to the other posters, I don't really believe that "no one" is buying the Xbox One, I just like to play Intellivision's game. I guess if I really wanted to play the game better I could remove both my gamertag and PSN ID and pretend to be a gamer, and then come up with some fanboy sig like "PS4 the #1 console of endless praise!" and then become really, really bitter about "Xbox fans." I would be like the anti-Intellivision. :D

On second thought.....
LOL. Yeah right. You've been an anti-MS troll from day one PV got this forum up and running. But hey, I can understand why you can't answer why PS4 software sales attach ratios are so low. No Sony fan fan.

But the reason is because X1 games are better. So despite needing to shell out another $100 for console depleting their wallets, they spend more to buy better games.

Can't be selling too bad since it outsold PS4 in Dec despite being $100 more.

A more telling fact is that PS4 software sales are lousy. It's a cheaper console (leaving gamers more money to spend), the games are supposedly so much better, Amazon and Target are doing solid game deals at launch which no console has ever had, yet X1 still has a better software attach ratio.

Buy hey, thanks for the info about Target USA selling PS4 games for $33. Never knew that. You don't see new games being dumped for almost half off at launch.

Also, X1's $20 off deal is a drop in the bucket vs. Wii U's discounts which were $50 off right away, and Costco clearing out the white bundle for $100 off ($199.99). in early 2013.

I believe supply over demand had a lot to do with Dec. sales. Not that the XB1 wasn't selling good, Sony's system just sold better, and we can clearly see that with every passing day. So, you can choose to take this credit from them all you want, but just remember this: the PS3 came back and even outran the competion after being behind 8 million units. Microsoft closing the gap or even pushing ahead of the competion with only a few thousand units certainly can't be THAT HARD if demand exceeded supply as you are suggesting, which they seem to have more of, don't you think?

Moreover, we heard this same story with every single one of Sony's system regarding it's software in the very beginning. In fact, the PS3 was a huge target of this, but may I add that it is the PS3 that is the last system standing on this battleground of the 3 last-gen syetems. So I'll leave you with this: your short-sighted debate is only valid until Sony starts flexing their real muscle.

LOL attach rates. What's the difference if PS4 is #1 in both WW console sales and WW software sales. What's the worldwide attach rate anyway?

The thing with UK sales that may be a little troubling for MS is that they led the PS3 there last gen, one of only two places and they are starting off behind. Not only that but PS4 was very hard to find there during the holidays yet it still managed to outsell the X1 which from what I've read didn't have many supply issues. Again this is all just two months in so nothing that happens now gives us a way to predict the future but I don't think MS is happy that the only two areas they were able to beat Sony in last gen are starting off favoring the competition. Rumors are also that MS had a fairly bad January compared to Sony in the US, we'll see if that holds up in a couple of weeks when the NPD results are released.

Heh, attach rates & game sales matter. It's the reason why devs stopped supporting the original Wii even though it sold more than the Xbox 360 and PS3 for the whole gen. People weren't getting many games for it.

We'll see. I definitely wouldn't be surprised if the PS4 beat the Xbox One in January (cheaper price) but I would be surprised if the PS4 completely crushed it. Like I said, we'll see though.

Overall, I think the PS4 will have more marketshare than the Xbox One. However since the Wii U isn't going to get no where near the marketshare that the Original Wii had, the Xbox One should be higher in marketshare than the Xbox 360 was during its gen. Sony's increase will be more though.

This will be a good gen for both MS and Sony either way. Sony will do better in WW sales (due to cheaper price and more brand recognition outside of NA) but MS will gain marketshare as long as they keep on bringing the Xbox One system appealing content and features.

Last Gen was Nintendo 40%, MS 30%, and Sony 30%.

This gen I'm predicting Nintendo 5%, MS 40%, and Sony 55%.

Nah, the Wii sold a ton of software for both Nintendo AND third parties.
Devs and publishers didn't "drop" Nintendo, they just figured out the demographic and produced the games that would sell and stopped making games that didn't sell.
What's the point of pushing FPS to soccer moms when they want fitness/dance games?

There was 3rd party support right to the end, the thing is, the support was not in the form of the genres of games that most people on TXB or even IGN and other core gamer websites are into, so they didn't get talked about.
The fact is, the core gamer is just one of gaming's distinct demographics. True, probably the biggest and most diverse single demographic, but there's a ton of truck driving sims, hunting sims and dance games that never get covered or reviewed on IGN because the core gamer isn't interested. But those games do sell and they do have a market.

I was referring to core 3rd party support. There was the dance/fitness games but games such as sports eventually stopped since as you said, the audience wasn't buying those games. And that was my main point; the sales of core games on the Xbox One shows that many are buying them for that console. Therefore, even if the PS4 has higher console sales, it wouldn't be smart for companies to ignore the Xbox One since the games are selling really well for that console -- especially when the console is selling more copies of certain core games.

Yeah, that prediction probably isn't far off from where things will end up. The only way I see it being worse for MS is if Sony ends up gaining even more momentum in the US and UK. MS had a 15 million or so sales lead in the US to help buffer against their deficits vs Sony around the world (7 million in Japan, 8 million the rest of the world) so without a huge lead in the US they could end up being even further behind. Services are nice and all but at $500 it's going to be hard to convince anyone but a hardcore Xbox fan that it's worth spending that kind of money to be able to talk to your tv. Pricing is obviously going to play a major role in how things play out and they were very reluctant to significantly lower the price of the 360 so it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out for sure.

Well the TV features on the Xbox One aren't really about the ability to talk to your TV, even though that's how they advertised it a lot of times. It's mainly about always being tied to your Xbox One games or Xbox Live feed no matter what you are doing on your TV. I can go straight to any (digital) game or check my messages/see what my friends are playing instantly while watching a live TV show. It makes your TV part of the gaming console instead of just a screen for gaming (if that makes sense).

Anyway, as long as MS focuses on games and features they'll be fine. Does it really matter if the Xbox One becomes #2 in the US if MS gains marketshare this gen in comparison to last?

Heck, some people seem to forget that the 360 was #2 in the US due to the original Wii but people seem to just focus on PS vs. Xbox.

As soon as the X1 gets more inline price wise with the PS4, the X1 sales will climb up.

The Xbox 360 is second behind the Wii last gen, but that is with a 1 year head start. I still can't believe the Xbox 360 hasn't hit $99.00 yet. I can see that s*** taking off like gangbusters.

An almost 10 year old console still being available for $300 is mind blowing and just... wrong.

The xbox 360?

Let's be honest, despite it's age....it still has awesome games. I won't be getting rid of my 360 for a long time, if ever. There are just way too many games for it that I haven't even played yet.

We'll see how it all works out, I'm not really sure that everyone who bought a Wii but skipped the Wii U is really going to be interested in moving on the an X1 or PS4 although I hope so just to keep the industry healthy. If a substantial group of people who bought a wii don't end up moving on to next gen consoles and MS ends up behind Sony in the US and UK it's hard to see them gaining any market share over where they were last gen. We are only two and a half months into this thing though so obviously all kinds of things can change over the next few months/years.

I definitely agree that the system has a ton of great games and the new consoles won't be able to catch up to it until probably 2020 at the earliest but it is amazing how it's still doing well at almost the same price as these new consoles.

Kids love their Minecraft.

Yeah I won't be replacing/selling mine too. Gonna hold on to it. Man it's gonna suck tracking down some of those hard to find xbox 360 games once MS stop producing 360's unit or stores don't sell them anymore and I'm not to fond of 360's game disc (prone to scratches).

Yep, I gotta start snatching up cheap used games.

Late to the party? I have been doing this from the very beginning. :D

Very late. I've been spending my dollars on Steam games, but now I'll hit up console games that I never bought.

I wasted the past few years playing wayyyyyyy too much CoD.
