Interesting thoughts on social media, though some have concerns lately about a precedent of Deplatforming people.
I've wondered if we need more of some kind of Fairness Doctrine which we had but was mostly dismantled in the 80s. Could we allowed demagogues to blow nonsense if they're legally obligated to introduce the opposition? I think FOX was doing this for a while though it soon became a charade.
As for Social Media, maybe that could be easily accomplished regarding news feeds with an algorithm tweak. I would love to see this done to The Drudge Report.
Regarding tougher laws, well yeah it won't stop all gun violence. It won't stop all crime either, but that doesn't mean we do nothing.
That's why Trump creates such a challenge to legit journalists. They need to stick to reporting facts, and leave opinions to other sources, but what if the facts just point to Trump being a racist POS who stirred all this up for political gain and now should be held accountable?
That's the catch-22 with Trump. People ask me how I can hate him and everything he does so much. Isn't that unreasonable? Didn't I call people who did that with Obama unreasonable? I DO simply hate him that much and everything he does though. I've never hated any Republican like this, but I hate Trump and everything he does and everything he stands for. He's a lying, sack of sh** con man who used racism to get elected.
Trump and the alt right have created this environment though. There is no middle.
An old friend on FB last night and a couple we know commented on his post all implying Democrats are somehow behind these mass shootings since it’s getting close to election time. I really hate where I’m from sometimes, people are stupid.
Armed man driving 'Trump' truck detained outside El Paso migrant shelter
EL PASO, Texas - An armed man, described by staff at a local migrant shelter as "a white supremacist Trump supporter," was detained by police when he was found lurking outside the shelter shortly after President Trump concluded a visit to El Paso.
Police confirmed an incident occurred around 7 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Stanton near the Casa Carmelita shelter.
In a social media post, Casa Carmelita said the man "was sitting in his truck wearing blue latex gloves, and brandishing a knife." The shelter also said "police recovered a loaded gun, ammo, and a bag of white powder from his person."
When I cut the cable cord and went with Hulu, I lost Comedy Central. I’d watch The Daily Show every night. When Noah took over I was skeptical. I ended up loving him. He’s also a very big proponent on how my mom is now a recovering republican. Anyway, I was pleased to find out that Comedy Central has an app that has nearly all their shows on there with current episodes.
Anyway... again. Noah is always insightful, smart, and witty, and this is one of his best. He’s a great speaker.
