Storage Expansion For Xbox Series X/S

My buddy turned me onto this and it works great.

Get an SSD drive of 256gb or larger.

This Crucial one here is around $100 USD

Amazon product

Slap it in a Tool less external USB 3.0 Case

http://www.amazon.com/Tool-free-Inateck-External-Drive-Enclosure/dp/B00JQTO8TU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426802077&sr=8-1&keywords=[USB+3.0+%26+Tool-free+]+Inateck+2.5+Inch+USB+3.0+HDD+SATA+External+Hard+Drive+Disk+Enclosure+Case+for+9.5mm+7mm+2.5%22+SATA+HDD+and+SSD

Bicceddy BAM. You now have games that boot in half the time!! Forza Horizon 2 on the internal Drive takes almost 1 minute to boot. On this External USB 3.0 SSD it boots in 28 Seconds!!!

So for about $125-135 USD you can be rocking with more storage and speed.

Back in March we announced the Preview Program would expand to the Xbox 360 and work much like the Xbox One Preview Program – selected members would be able to sign-up directly from their Xbox 360 and once registered, have the opportunity to install system updates and experience the new or improved features before they release to the general audience. One of the most requested features at the Xbox Feedback website was forlarger external storage for the Xbox 360.

The next update for Xbox 360 Preview Program members will allow the use of 2TB hard drives to store Xbox 360 data. If you are not part of the Preview program you will get this functionality later this year. In addition we will also no longer reserve space in advance on your hard drive. If you are using 16GB of hard drive space for games – we will only take 16GB of space. And just like today – you will be able to use two external drives at a time.

Note: Some drives may be incompatible or have performance issues. If you already have space reserved for storing Xbox 360 data, you will need to clear the Xbox 360 storage to gain full access to the drive. If you are in the Preview program, please review the list of known issues before formatting your drive.

10 years later and MS is still supporting the Xbox 360 as they promised. NICE.

Very surprised they are still supporting and developing somewhat new features for X360.

Seems odd. But then, there are tons and tons of great games on the 360.

Wow pretty cool news. With all the free GWG and the cheap sales, my 250GB 360 drive is almost full. I have a USB 2.0 1TB drive that I might use for this. Still play my 360 a decent amount.

That's cool. My son has my 360 now, and he's filling it up pretty quickly.

Sh!t that reminds me, I have a couple 500GB drives sitting around from my old laptop. Guess I'll have reason to use the 360 preview program invite :)

Yup, i still play my 360 a lot. It has such an awesome library of games. Plus i love that it's backwards compatible with original Xbox games.

Not really. Only half of Xbox games are backwards compatible. And about 1/10 of that Backwards Compatible list are buggy as hell. It says Silent Hill 2 works on the 360, but it freezes at the beginning of the game every freaking damn time. Everybody is experience this issue as well.

Here is a few of my Xbox games in my VG Collection that do not work on the 360:
Star Wars: Jedi Knight II -- Jedi Outcast
Jaws Unleashed
Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel
Pac-Man World 2
Silent Scope Complete

how do you get in the preview program? I see you got to get a invite can someone hook a brother up?

I have an invite to the preview program sitting in my message box (probably b/c I am in the preview program on X1)....I should opt in :). I'll probably try to dig up a 500 GB 2.5 external (bus powered) for the 360 as I already need a 1TB+ for my other X1. *Gamer Problems*

The best console ever just got even better!

Following up on the 2 TB or 4 TB Game Drive for Xbox, Seagate is bringing yet another option to the table: an 8 TB Game Drive Hub for Xbox.

The company is launching the Game Drive series at an opportune time, just as Microsoft officially announced the Xbox Game Pass and Xbox One X, which was previously known as Project Scorpio.

At any rate, average gamers probably won't run out of storage space on their consoles with the 8 TB solution, and it'll arguably take some time before hard-core gamers will fill up the devices to their capacities, including the console's internal offering.

That's gross. Don't buy Seagate. They break like crazy. Western Digital or bust.

Are there any 7200 rpm external hard drives that are USB powered or am I stuck to getting the power variants?

I'm ok with the latter but do prefer less cables running through the back of my entertainment center.

I feel stupid for not knowing this, but how EXACTLY does the cloud storage work on the XB1? I have read some conflicting reports online and now I don't trust anything I read on it. Some people say that all your game save data automatically gets duplicated on the cloud all the time. Some say once you save a specific game save file to the cloud it will automatically save to both your HD and the cloud from then on. Others say you have to do it manually for each file each time you want it saved.
Does it move from the HD to the cloud and go off of that from then on? Does it work like a duplicate that is only used when you select the cloud as your storage device when you star up the game?

I just want to know for sure from people I trust how it works in case I have some 100+ hour Skyrim save get corrupted (and I kill myself because I was ignorant of how to operate it). Thanks!

You gotta get with the times. The power of the cloud has been around since 2013. There are no limits to what the tech can do.
