Deleted the game part of the way into chapter 5. I couldn't get one of the 3 environmental puzzle things to activate no matter how many times I looked at it. Even followed a video guide and couldn't get it to do anything no matter how many times I looked at it and moved to. I left the game in quick resume for a couple of days, so not sure if that messed something up. I didn't consider that potentially being the issue until deleting the game. Oh well.

Did you try restarting the console and then testing that checkpoint again ? Might just be a bug

The only problem I have with the game is the story. I do not entirely understand it and it can be confusing asf.

Haven't finished it yet... but if I'm reading this correctly, I guess I just spoiled the ending lol
I haven't either.

Everything in the first game and this game is her Psychosis. These things we do are just messed up hoops her Psychosis creates as barriers to keep her trapped in darkness.

I took it as her father was part of the norsemen who pillaged their village and perhaps even are still alive and the master of the norsemen that take the slaves... but maybe I'm reading your post wrong.

They could do that.

How do some people consider this as not having “gameplay”. But a Final Fantasy game where you select an action in a menu bar, and then watch the action play out, is gameplay ?
Also a s*** ton of walking in those games too.

I think the gameplay is fine , it's simple, walk around, do puzzle, win your 1's, cue cutscene then onto the next. It's a great tech showcase and cinematic experience. I'm enjoying myself as the game was intended to be that way.

People were probably just expecting more improvement in some areas like the battle system and gameplay with it being the sequel. I haven't played the first one but looking at videos of what people are posting and comparing , seems like there are more ways to tackle an opponent in the first vs the sequel here and that is the "regression" people are talking about. Personally it's fine for first timers like me since I have nothing to compare to and I think the combat is rather simplified, focused and well done for what NT envisioned their game to be like.

Having said that, this game is one of the most movie like experience ever so it is quite amusing seeing it being embraced by some on social media who were criticizing this style before lol.

I only played maybe a quarter of the way through the first. But the combat in HB2 feels better to me. The fights feel more personal. And sure it gets a bit samey at points. But what game doesn’t?

Yeah, It's like they focused on making some core parts of the combat and made it better in every sense.

Nope. It was a challenge for me to even get to Chapter 5. There was no sense in wasting more time playing something that I hated when I rarely have time for any of the games I bought and haven't even started yet. I figured I could get several easy achievements just pushing up on the analog stick for several minutes at a time walking through boring environments, but the game did not allow it.

I feel the same way about RTS games and stuff like BG3.

It's not for me. I feel it's less engaging than the first game, I've made it a couple of hours in and that's it really, some of that time is me just leaving it on and doing something else. I don't know I may pick at it when I've nothing to do, maybe get it done over the year.

Basically it comes across as a bit of an art project with little else to it and I wanted a game.

Just killed the second giant... almost everything about this game resonates with me.
Great protagonist (this is how you do a strong female character without shoehorning it in with an agenda).
Fantastic graphics.
Fantastic art design.
Fantastic sound.
Great storytelling.
Great (for me) Gameplay and controls.

The only things I could critique would be the collectibles... it's great that there's small snippets of storytelling in there, but there's just two types and it's pretty much the same thing; look for a rock face or take a short hike.
Also the puzzles, it's the same look at a spehere and line up a symbol every time.

I can see that the extremely linear gameplay and basic fight controls doesn't work for everybody, but for me it's perfect. It fits the cinematic approach and makes me more invested in the world and storytelling.
