No dev working on both has come out and said anything like that yet either.
This place wouldn’t be the same without Val or Jinca. We’ve all got our preferences and biases, even if some pretend not to. A little bit of fun poking is all I ever really see on these forums, it never gets too out of hand. Of course these times when new consoles are launching are fun and a bit of ribbing is to be expected from both sides of the aisle. I don’t know anyone here irl but after joining this forum in 2013, I feel like I do know a lot of the posters. I’d be real sad if they went away.
I’ve wrote a couple of spiky posts myself recently but honestly no malice intended, both consoles are awesome and I look forward to seeing and discussing the games we’ll be playingon them hopefully soon with all the regulars here. Peace out.

Some people need a vactation from union and I find banning to be a ugly word but some people need to be.
I got biases. Too old to be fake and pretend I don't. Everyone has a favorite. I'll be getting a PS5 day 1 unless I'm worried about reliability. Worst case is I'll slightly wait. Sony's investment in tentpole games is going up from this gen and that's exciting. Playstation is worth it for exclusives alone.
No point in hiding the fact I'm more excited about Series X than any console since the launch of the 360.
...and I've been saying since the Github leaks (for those stalking me at the other site) that the specs aren't that big a deal in the big picture. PS4 is the first time the strongest console ran away with sales ever. Comes down to mindshare which is based on price, content and services. Xbox next gen power isn't really about teraflops. It's about support from the top investing in content, services and tools for devs.
In terms of specs, we should be spending time talking about what they will mean in terms of games. For those that care, the PS5 lost the spec wars. It's not the end all be all. Time to move to the next phase of the conversation.
As far as specs go, one of the most exciting things to me is the upgraded back compat games. Upgraded old games. It was easily one of my favorite things about the One X. I'm looking forward to see more regarding how ML will impact the old games.
All that stuff regarding the PS4 vs X1 is true and was true at the time even if some people didn't want to believe it.
As far as the next gen stuff MS own fanboys who have "connections" like that Tim guy said MS wasn't communicating with developers because they were trying to hide the specs of the XSX from Sony (stupid framing because neither one is going to change their console to match the other in some way this late in the game) and Matt who is always fair on resetera said just the other day MS is communicating with the public better but Sony is doing a better job at communicating with developers it's not hard to see how they'd be saying what they did. The bottom line is Shcreier does get inside info all the time, I don't like some things about him but his info is usually spot on, he's pretty careful about throwing things out there.

Yeah this place feels like a real community to me, those other two are too big and too full of egos to ever be like that. Also when I have a real problem with people I put them on ignore, I don't like to do it but if it just seems like they constantly troll and aren't up for having a real discussion I won't let them ruin this place for me so I put them on ignore. I think I only have like 2 or 3 people on it and after all this time here I think that's a pretty good ratio lol.

Is he a journalist or a fanboy? Because that's not what you write as a professional gaming journalist, covering multiple gaming platforms.
I believe that. Microsoft did keep things under wraps. I think a lot of that is becoming more obvious. The hardware they sent out was not indicative of the feature sets the final hardware would have. That's coming from multiple angles. I also believe a lot of the tools are just less mature and weren't ready.
Schreier and Xbox execs have had a long term battle. A lot of that was escalated by Ybarra who Schreier has called out indirectly on Resetera. He was on a podcast recently where he justifies his "distrust" for Xbox by saying he distrusts all megacorporations...but it's obvious him and Xbox execs have a bit more personal of a battle. He has contacts at Sony so I think he walks more of a fine line when dealing with them.

I don't know, I'll put a security cam in my room so I can see what my One X with tons of purchased 3rd party games on it does to me at night.

Now that we can move to next gen games...
I do feel that Sony's 1st party will still make the prettiest games of next gen if we're judging the average visual quality across the board. That has everything to do with their priorities. Since late on the PS2 when they released Killzone and God of War, they've used graphics and animations to sell or deliver on the potential of their hardware. That is the Sony brand. The types of graphics in Sony's tent-poles require really big teams prioritizing visuals on a fixed hardware for many years. I expect some 30 fps games from them. There needs to be a lot of investment towards graphics and animations to maintain that quality...and you're generally not going to try reinventing the wheel for game design because those games are too expensive to take big risks.
You can look at Microsoft's studios, how they're broken out, how they're porting across multiple variations of hardware to see that their focus is different. Just look at who they're purchasing. Their strengths are in different areas and most of their calling cards weren't visual fidelity. When Xbox 1st party has been at it's best, they're coming up with new game features or innovating on the ecosystem. In the prime of Xbox over 10 years ago, there was variety of genres and new things added to genres within their portfolio. Spencer, being with Xbox at that time, seems like he's trying to re-capture some of that magic. I expect some pretty games from The Initiative and Ninja Theory but I don't expect it to become their brand or calling card.

A journalist that covers multiple platforms tries to manage bias. If he's tweeting his bias but denies it, he loses crediblility. Which is what has happened. He doesn't cover the good things that happen with Xbox most of the time anyways. He's quick to uplift Playstation at the expense of Xbox and when people call him out on it, he denies it.
Val is a great guy. Jinca not so much. Not to mention he has me blocked.

There isn't anything biased about saying Microsoft couldn't compete in exclusives a few years ago. They couldn't. That is what I am talking about. That tweet is included like its some big gotcha moment.
I like them both, Jinca is a good guy, he's reasonable even though he has his own opinions...I don't always agree with him though lol
That's not the gotcha moment. It's about the combo of those 4 messages. He just has a poor history of reporting against Xbox. He's blurring the line between journalism and Playstaition PR. I don't know why he even covers Xbox. Nothing would be lost if he didn't.
Sweet, gonna play Halo at launch. I expect 8K 120fps otherwise f*** off.
LOL, WUT? Sea of Thieves is my most played game this gen, over both consoles and now 2 VR units. This game is infinitely playable as long as it is supported by the developers. There will be hell to pay if Rare pulls the plug any time soon! Do not make a mistake by underestimating how popular this game is with its fans.
