Installing Ryse now! Played around a bit with the new UI and settings. I can't get the iOS smartglass app to connect, and my home theater's receiver needs some settings adjustments for 5.1 audio (dealing with it tomorrow) but everything has gone smoothly.

gonna set up my sons X1 now and see if his UI is the same!! the console is great but the dashboard aint showing pics or videos for me so i wondered if its because the NAT is on moderate??
the controller is fantastic
the system itself is beautiful and runs quiet and doesn't get hot, slightly warm but not hot (even the power brick)
and i am loving Ryse!!! the visuals are breathtaking and yeah its hack and slash, but so far its epic!!

Have any of you guys downloaded any games yet?

I just want to know whether or not the game downloads operate like 360, where when it is finished downloading you can play instantly or like PS3 where you have to download, then install.

Seeing reports of Ryse taking 2 hours to install via disc sounds awful enough.

I downloaded KI and it said "Installing" with a progress bar while it was downloading. So it installs/downloads at sametime.

I'm surprised at how well the voice commands are working so far. It's pretty good. The gesture control is HORRIBLE though.

.... shmuck :p ive heard the ones included took 2 weeks of heavy play to deplete so you have enough time to order more

Yea, luckily the sony charger I ordered came with 2 AA's as well. I swear I clicked that link that plainview had up for eneloops. I dunno how I ended up with AAA's instead of AA. At least they were only 8 bucks.

yeah theyll last 4 years in a tv remote or whatever else AAA's are used for these days

More game impressions, please!

The slow installs for Ryse are on downloads or from the disc?

hmm i am also confused about this!! installing can mean installing from disc and also downloading as i downloaded KI and it said installing???

Ryse took quite a while to install. Clearly it's doing more than just copying data to the HDD.

Anyway, after about 2.5 hours with the console, I'm eager to learn more about how to navigate the interface and to see what else the console offers. It's interesting that I don't look at it simply as a gaming machine; it's an entertainment center.

Controller: The D-pad is phenomenal. The controller feels nice, and the buttons work well. My only issue is the high sensitivity of the sticks in the dashboard. Small movements will be enough to register, and I'd rather it be less sensitive.

OS: It's interesting to see how the OS manages each app - there's no way to close an app, from what I can tell so far. You can resume where you left off in an app, but I don't know to what extent (i.e., can I open up 10 apps and go back to the first and resume from where I left off?). Visually, it's so so sharp. Looks far sharper than the 360 dash.

Xbox Fitness: Huge disappointment here. I thought we'd get access to all of P90X and Insanity and the like, but they're only two or so sessions out of the entire programs. Basically, you get demos of the fitness routines, and that's it. You can't even buy the other P90X sessions (there seem to be other fitness programs that you CAN buy for $30).

Achievements: They can be viewed in full-screen, and they sometimes accompany short clips of when you earned the achievement (dependent upon developer).

Store: Games are scattered all over the screen, with no particular rhyme or reason to the layout. I'm still trying to figure out how to order them in alphabetical order. However, searching via Bing makes it easy to find the game you want (I used Bing to find Xbox Fitness, as I couldn't find it in the Store).

Oh and Kinect voice commands work wonderfully. I just need to learn all of the commands. Gestures are a lot better as well. Not jittery like the old Kinect.

Will probably get mine some time next week. I'm still waiting on my PS4, which should be here today or Monday.

There is no prom on the screen? A strange omission.

You would have thought they would have on screen guide of some sort, so you can learn,. When you are familar, you can choose to turn them off, or make them smaller.

I've messed with my XB1 for a bit, mostly gaming but I have to say early on this console is very impressive, it does really feel futuristic with how everything works, not to mention I haven't seen most of it, and not to mention it will only get a lot better with updates. I can't remember this big of a jump with interface. Very smooth and efficient, kinda glad I didn't get a Kinect 1 so everyone else could test it out and I could use this improved version.

You say "Xbox" and a HUD appears that shows you the many commands you can use.

After having to do a factory reset this morning everything is working fine.

Fooking hate the mandatory installing.

Everything else is mustard. Such a stunning achievement, really is.

Fifa,RYSE,BF4 are beyond stunning to look at.

I have left it now to finish installing stuff and I'm going to walk the dog and get some beer for a long session this afternoon.

The setting up for m TV and cable was surprisingly easy. The TV features are actually pretty cool and kinect responds to my commands with barely noticeable latency. I was told Kinect 2.0 was going to be just as bad! :D

The OS: it feels a bit confusing at first but you get the hang of it quickly. I highly recommend getting Smartglass, makes everything easier. The OS is almost as fast as they show in the videos, and I freaking love that! I'm still getting used to it and learning how to manage everything.

The controller: best thing ever. Day one controller! It feels like it was made to fit perfectly in your hands. Huge improvement over it's predecessor, even if it's nearly the same design.

Kinect: Accuracy is pretty good but I have to speak louder than I'm comfortable with (I'm a quiet person, you see). However, I tried kinect rivals and it's pretty glitchy. Hopefully they'll fix that by release.

Knew this was going to happen. I made this prediction once they launched that Xbox Fitness trailer. I knew they weren't going to have all of the workouts available for a whole year for free...that would kill those respective brand's business big time, unless MSFT paid them enough money to cover the losses.

MSFT should have advertised that message clearer because their ad suggests you get access to the entire programs.

Any way to check how much battery the controller has please?? Can't find it!
If I remember correctly I read that you can't. Though I haven't had hands on time with the system yet so I can't confirm.

Keep the impressions coming people! Hoping UPS will show up at my door soon.
