Sex in video games. Is it needed or just 'gratuitous?'

As far as my experience goes, nudity and sex in videogames isn't needed and is virtually entirely (if not literally entirely) gratuitous.

this is like asking "should video games include human characters? what about animals? should space stories be in games?". it's so arbitrary. the only relevant question is "is there a valid reason for it?". if 'yes', then it should be included. simple. ideally all art should be an open palette with no inhibiting factors, including financial, which is always a massive stifler in the challenging of "taboo" topics

Within the context of the portrayal of realistic human interactions and relationships, only prudish people raised with Victorian attitudes and religious bias would take offense. That being said, some unscrupulous gamemakers exploit sex in their games because there will always be an army of pimply-faced little pudknockers willing to shell out big bucks for games that include it.
