Shenmue Series

Lol. Never underestimate Yu's ability to spend.

I doubt he can finish the game on time/budget.

I doubt he can finish the game with the second timeline/budget he is given.

And I never finished Shen Mu 2. I don't know how it would function today as a faithful port thouhh. I found large parts of the game redundant back then...

I don't think you undertand. I just meanh the liittle extra money Yu didn't get from kick starter.

Don't understand why Sega wouldn't just go ahead and fund Shenmue 3. At yhis point it doesnt need much money.
Kickstarter campaigns are the best sets of money any person or business can get.

- Upfront money
- No interest paid
- No obligations, as most of them say that if it closes up shop they don't have to refund you
- No need to prove to anyone anything aside from a page or two of info about what the project is, or maybe a preview video
- If a campaign fails, there is no negative impact on them aside from perhaps their image. Faltering on a bank loan can kill your credit history for life, esp. if you file for bankruptcy

Even if it's an honest business person who will make a good product and send all donaters a copy of the game, it still stands they just got money without needing to go through a bank.

Star Citizen raised $100M. If they tried getting that from banks, there would no way they could get that using a Kickstarter way. Kickstarter money flows in right away as fast as possible. Even if a company got approved for major bank loans, it can be pieced out depending if they hit milestones, which must be proved to the bank. With Kickstarter campaigns, a project can get $10M right away and have nothing to really show yet.

Aged badly in areas especially movement so that would need some work.

But many areas still hold up.

I sold my copy of Shenmue 1 (DC) & Shenmue 2 (Xbox) on Amazon back in 2014 so I'm looking forward to playing it again in HD.

They really need to modernize the controls. That is my most wanted change. There was only a single analog sick with Dreamcast, so it really needs to change to a more GTA style for moving around. That is paramount! Holding a button to walk is just dumb, in this age.

2 added a second control system which made it more GTA like

On Xbox? I only played half of the game and I don't remember that. Maybe I didn't like it? In fact, I remember mapping the trigger to the walk button cuz it was easier to hold down and felt a bit like driving while walking.

Would love to see it happen. Wonder if it would be multiplat though with Shenmue 3 being PS4 exclusive. I assume the HD collection would be on both consoles. Shenmue was a Dreamcast/Xbox franchise to begin with.

I don't remember ever hearing it officially announced for 2017. It may have been; I just missed it. I don't think anyone actually expected it to be out this year.

In other monumental news, Peter Molyneux promises his new game will feature a complex real-time simulation of an entire city's population's daily life, plus your foot may get caught in the chicken so beware!

Was this ever even officially announced as a 2017 release? I don't remember it.

I'd be surprised if it even comes out in 2018. As I said in the E3 thread, if it is 2018, it'll be a scaled down episodic content kind of game. If it's a full budget game, 2019 at earliest.

Who knows how this game is progressing, but I have a feeling this game is barely progressing at all.

Don't get me wrong. Maybe Yu has a decently sized team and they are cranking out production fast. But not getting that vibe.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if they were honestly considering 2018 as a solid target.

And I'm not sure a large team would be ideal for You to work with again... The bloke loves to spend those dollar-dollar bills, yo!

I hope he didn't see what the FFXV team got up to, for the sake of environmental authenticity.

Yu will end up in Monte Carlo having champagne enemas, just to ensure the endgame can be accurate. Then cue the second Kickstarter.

Somehow I imagine when I type the words "butt-chugging champagne" that it won't be the first time you've seen or used the phrase. :B->:

Have you ever tried a champagne enema? People told me that 1 beer in the butt is the same as 3 down the mouth, but I swear, you get drunk soooo much faster.

And you don't end up with booze breath. Take that cops!!!

There are however, some negatives... Things get rather grippy up there...
