Shenmue Series

Also, reading first page of this thread, lol you guys needed to have more faith in this reality. Pretty sure there's no alternative universe which this didn't get made.

It's happened... people have Shenmue III
Review embargo was 2 days AFTER release, but they changed it to DAY OF release now. I guess the game is big according to Push Square:

"this is a relatively large title that demands more of our time "

From what I've read from the scant number of reviews, it's basically shenmue II with a lick of paint and. Story seems to, as mentioned above, be moving along just one step. This isn't a problem at all for me, as long as there's more games coming.... don't won't to lay on my deathbed wishing that shenmue 4 will meet me in the next reality.

Heavy discounts already plus fans putting up fake reviews to boost the game's meta score

Did they add forklift customization? If I'm going to spend days racing those things I want aftermarket parts.

Sounds so disappointing, I was kind of hoping for something that plays like Yakuza but set in the Shenmue world. Sounds like it's still almost as stiff as the original games which is too bad because they've made a lot improvements in overall gameplay since this series debuted.

Some are saying most of the sales were during the Kickstarter.

It's Ryo. It's japoonese cheesy dialogue. It's Kung Fu (or jujitsu, karate, Ryo doesn't seem to know anymore either). It's forklifting. It's working a job. It's DC era graphics. It's top 15 best gaming soundtracks of all time. It's Ryo.

It's Shenmue, nothing more, nothing less.
Honestly if you haven't played the earlier games, you really shouldn't touch this game. Coming into this in 2019 expecting it to play as a 2019 game is a huge mistake and imo shouldn't even be reviewed by today's standards, mostly because of the kickstarter and how transparent Suzuki's been with gameplay and info leading up to release.
