Skyrim

Listen here I loved Oblivion. Hit about 100 hours in it for one play through which for me is a long ass time. Fallout 3 and New Vegas are also both awesome games and really looking forward to a new one. That said I have no interest in playing Skyrim. Maybe it's the time commitment I know will be required but honestly I think I'm just not interested in that type of RPG. I just beat Bound by Flame, currently playing Demon Souls followed by both Dark Souls, love the Witcher games, and want to play games like Dragon's Dogma, Kingdom of Amalur, and the new Dragon's Age. But I just can't seem to care about missing out on Skyrim. It really doesn't make sense but there it is. Thanks for listening.

Then again if the super collection of it is on sale during the Steam summer sale I would probably still buy it. Lord Gaben is an a******.
Viktor,

Do yourself a favor and skip Kindoms of Amalur. I beat it but I believe the other RPG's on your list are more worthy of your time in my opinion. I bought KoA at full price and regret it. Generic as hell.

It was good to begin with? That dragonborn DLC is the only thing I like about it because it's so reminiscent of Morrowind.

I already replied last year but yeah. Nevermind 2 years, Skyrim will still be good in 20 years. I still play Morrowind on my original Xbox lol.

lol well I guess the positive to that is I only paid $5 for it. Also, follow me into the Dark Souls thread!

If you have any questions about modding throw me a line.
Modding Fallout 3/Fallout NV/Skyrim is my forte.

Well i am trying some mods that are on the steam workshop to see how it goes, i visited the nexus site but not sure about downloading from there yet. i have tried a weather mod and mostly graphic ones like improving towns. i am not sure if they are making a difference yet though.

The mods on the Steam workshop are alright but I consider that 'modding lite' because they are usually the cut down versions of what you find on the Nexus.
What resolution are you playing at? If you are improving the textures it should be readily noticeable at 1080p and beyond.

If you really want to get into dramatic changes to the game and texture and how it looks I would really suggest making an account on the Nexus and downloading some texture packs. They have Skyrim 2K textures (Full version & Lite version for performance.)
They even have mods that just boost your performance if you need it. Climates of Tamriel is a complete weather overhaul that dramatically improves the lighting and the weather of the game. Enhanced Lighting and FX is another lighting mod that makes the game look absolutely amazing.

So my question is why are you unsure about downloading from the Nexus?

NOOOOOOO!!!!

NO. NO. NO. NONONO.

Steam workshop is okay, but if you really want good, stable mods you need to use the nexus.

Here, watch this play list: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL96C073B0B8BFC01D

Follow that play list, install the mods that interest you and skip the ones that don't. By the time you're done you'll barely recognize the game. Best of all everything will work properly and your game will be stable.

I bet the mods on PC are pretty awesome. That being said the stock Game+DLC on 360 is pretty friggen awesome on a 1080p 50" Plasma with my Yamaha 5.1 Lossless AMP behind it! Dragons shake the house! (cept at night then its just my TB X12's shaking my ears...)

well i didnt select any of the packages they list when opening an account, i didnt know if i had to pay the site before i could download anything from there or not. If i have to thats fine but would rather not if i can.

I still love it. get it a few months ago on 360 when it was super cheap for the DD version then got the expansions too. I put like over 200 hours and only done like what maybe 5 quest in the mean storyline HA. I've let it sit for like 2 months now but will go back to it for sure.

Forking great game.

At least I'm not alone on putting hundreds of hours into a game and not really progressing.
I think I have over 200 hrs in GTA4 as well and I'm not very far into it.

well sky rim and games like it and WOW are god awful time wasters. You can do so many little things that don't take long but add up in time as you feel a sense of accomplishment so you keep playing and time just goes by. I mean s*** I sit down and got my smiting in skyrim to 100 think I was like 6 hours or more doing it HA.

So I'd play and just work at each skill to get them to 100 and boom you spent hours doing it.

Hey, we're here to help. If there's anything you're not sure of or just plain don't understand do not be afraid to ask. If I don't know the answer I'm sure TLT will know and if he doesn't one of us can surely find the appropriate Gopher video for reference.

Like I said, follow that playlist. I know it's long and involved but most, if not all of them have time stamps so you can skip past mods you're not interested in and once you install 2-3 mods you'll know what to do on your own.

However, you really do want to watch the more technical videos on how to use the software, how to do proper load order and use BOSS (I think there's a new program in place of BOSS now though, so read up on it).

New program is called LOOT Idle.
Works just like BOSS but LOOT actually looks for incompatible esp files and will flat out tell you. It will also tell you if you need to clean your mod/s with TES5 EDIT tool.

LOOT is hands down the superior tool. It makes BOSS look amateur.

Oh man, that was the reason I gave up on Skyrim. Mod management was so crap with BOSS and I always had conflicts I couldn't pin point. Might be time to dive back in.

The great thing about LOOT is that it is always learning. The developer of the tool actually crafted an algorithm that applies an accurate load order based on information it has received from other users who have LOOT installed.
So basically it calculates which load order will be more successful based on other load orders it has accessed from others.
That alone makes it more accurate than BOSS.

Using it for some time and I haven't had a single conflict with a fair bit of mods/enbs installed for Skyrim.

Thanks for all the information about this, i am trying to learn everything and also seeing what works and wont work on my surface pro 2 tablet. i got a few mods working so far now just a matter of checking whats available

The world of Skyrim mods is a vast and dangerous place. A place fraught with timeless classics like 'killable children' and 'schlongs of Skyrim'.
There you will find such gems as 'equip-able pubic hair' and 'Opefeldths ENB'.

It is a vast world. A scary world, but take heart young patawan, we will be your guide.

LOOT, that was it. I remember watching the Gopher vid on it when it released.

also, "schlongs of skyrim" makes me laugh every time I read/hear it.

With all the games coming out on PS4/X1 from last gen, why not bring this thing over with updated graphics and all the DLC packed in?. Id buy it again, and I guarantee many others would as well.

Would you guys recommend the realvision enb mod for skyrim? i am always looking for ways to improve the look of my game.

Just picked this up recently I have Jaysus swords, climates of Tamriel and enhanced blood mods. Any other recommendations.

Too much mods here, I use to just copy them directly into the folder, seems I should re-install.
