Something about penny arcade that's bugged me for years

Why do these two look so alike?

I've never found any connection between the animated clerks series and penny arcade. Only thing I can think of is someone being "inspired" by the other. But...why.

The only thing about Penny Arcade that bugged me was how different the artists look from their comic-character avatars.

Only similarities I'm seeing is the hair and how they dress.

It's intentional I think. Happened around the same time frame, and the Clerks animator, Steven Silver, is an inspiration/role model for Penny Arcade

Ah, well, that's something.

now time for this to die I guess. If it doesn't: Anyone not like the new comics so much? Sorta veering away from what they're usually about, like the "soul" is missing, for lack of a less stupid term.

I'm still enjoying Penny Arcade myself. It's always been the same for me, some comics make me laugh, others are meh. That's been the green flowing essence of PA.
