Sony closing Evolution Studios (Driveclub, Motorstorm)

The current gen would be absolutely horrible for car racing games if it weren't for Forza. PS4's current library for racing games doesn't come anywhere close to PS1, PS2, and PS3's libraries during their third years. Hopefully GT Sport will deliver.
Hopefully these recent game studio closings will show more people as to why there's an increase in console exclusives going to PC.
Well that sucks... Drive Club actually turned out rather great. Perhaps they had too many racing developers in the same pile?
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Now I have no chance of seeing the return of one of my favourite arcade racers of last-gen.

Previously let go devs from Evolution formed a new studio and are working with Sony on a VR game. If it ends up being Driveclub VR I will laugh.
Sadly, racing games don't sell like they used to. Even some of the biggest names, while still popular, aren't pulling in the numbers. What started with the death of big budget arcade racers extended to everything in the genre.
Racing games used to be bankers but now are seen as expensive risks so fewer and fewer are being made. Driveclub sold over 2 million but it wasn't enough for Sony to keep investing in the studio.
Hope some those guys find work at some of the other the UK racing studios like Codemasters or Playground Games. There is a real pool of developer talent in the UK for the genre and I hope that can remain and people can find their feet again.

Just more bulls*** from Sony. They've been taking jabs all gen at Microsoft. So Lionhead gets shut down and Sony takes to Twitter offering people jobs but Sony can't even keep their own doors open? Good one.
As far as Evolution Studios getting closed, this definitely sucks. I enjoyed DriveClub, when it finally worked, lol. I was hoping for another Motorstorm game though. I love that franchise.
Eh, like with lionhead, we don't know the whole story. You can't just keep losing dev houses open just 'cuz, though it does seem weird as DC didn't do too badly. At least they managed to release a decent game this gen unlike another dev who has been sucking up money without producing for years *cough* ...Polyphony... *cough*
Yea I was thinking that exact same thing. You would think with how good they did with the graphics on DC they could give some of that work from Polyphony.
I finally got DriveFlub when it was priced down to $20 and couldn't get into it all with the physics/AI. It was a looker though at times. I would have much liked to play a Motorstorm game so I am sad this likely won't come to pass. At least Sony gave them a chance to make good on the promises of the game they completely flubbed after the multi-delayed release. They seemed to have delivered on those mistakes but it was far past the point of tolerance for most gamers. I wish the laid off employees well for their new futures.
It wasn't that bad? The game was unplayable. I don't know how you get worse than that.
That is a lie. You could play the single player campaign. If you are going to state facts at least state proper facts not things made up inside your head.

This generally sucks. I loved Driveclub and it was one of the best PS4 exclusives. But it seemed inevitable with the lay offs last year and I'd imagine the paid content wasn't doing well enough. This really puts pressure on PD to deliver now though, fans will not take more pissing about on GT, the next one has to come out before mid 2017 and it has to be up to the standard people expect from a Gran Turismo game.
I dare say GT 7 is going to have to be nigh on perfect. They've been working on it for a loooong time. The management of that company is abysmal, and of they were anyone else, they'd have been ahut down ages ago. If they don't deliver something mind blowing, they may not be making a GT8...

Everytime is see the driving levels in UC4 I think how awesome Motorstorm on PS4 would have been.
