Sony Is Skipping E3 2019

I get the nostalgia angle for Medieval. But the original game wasn't even that good. I'll be interested to see how the remake does.

I've never played the originals, is there more to them than the Spyro games? I've only played the first one of those so far but it's just the same thing over and over again, I love the visuals but he doesn't learn any new abilities and there isn't any real story to it.

We've kind of wandered off-topic here, guys.

Anyone have anything more to add about Sony skipping E3?

Personally, I'd rather they skip than put in another show like last year's, which was kind of disappointing and a bit pretentious. Chances are, it would be mostly the same games over again -- TLOU2, Tsushima, Death Stranding -- and we really don't need E3 for that. Regular media outlets work just fine.

In fact, that's part of the problem with E3 in the modern era. Back when there was mostly magazines, E3 was a great place to showcase games and announce news. Now, news can be announced with such ease and immediacy through so many outlets, it's hard to argue that a big convention like E3 is all that important.

Kind of a bummer. I always liked looking forward to E3, but it seems like it's diminishing in importance. Nintendo has been phoning it in for years. Now Sony seems to be stepping away and saying "Why bother?" I'm sure it's a lot of effort and expense. Given the noise level during that period of time, what they want to spotlight can easily get overshadowed. And then you've got the complaining gamers and negative press reactions, which I'm sure companies aren't happy about (not that you can escape that by using normal media channels, but there's something about E3 that amplifies people's reactions).

So I'm wondering if this is a sign that E3 is sort of fading away, as a major industry event. Or maybe it's just a temporary blip, and Sony will be back in 2020 in full force. I don't know.

Nintendo have had 0 reason to do a conference in years do to light content and Sony have shot themselves in the foot by showing everything so early.

Sony will be back at it at 2020's E3.

But E3 will be just as it always is

I played a demo of the original and thought it was terrible even for its time.

Every year I hear complaints about how Console A or B skips conference A or B or C or D throughout the year. Then people complain that when they do go to the show, it is ALWAYS a let down because the manufacturer didn't show enough of what Consumer A or B wanted. Either too much music, to much TV TV TV, too many scantily clad women, not enough AAAAAAAAAAA games debuted and not released same day, too many flutes, too many paid fans cheering, complain about moving venues, not long enough, too long, poor acting from developers during demo's, didn't show enough game play, showed too much game play, not enough new features, too many features, corporate head is too fat, too skinny, lies or is full of PR.

If I were the manufacturers, I would say a big f*** YOU, I am out.

That said, I enjoy the shows for what they are. I am a gamer, and I follow everything gaming. I know what to expect when there is a show and I know that I won't ever be let down because I never let myself get my hopes up.

Sony is probably not able to fill a decent show, or they just decided FU. Either way, I am fine with their decision so long as they keep bring us games.

There are so many other Sony PS1games I would have rather had remastered then that one.

Layden worked on it. I wonder if that biased the selection process.
