Sony XBR-65/75Z9D Forbes TV Of The Year

Damn, he spends the whole article comparing it to my set, the Samsung KS9800. While the Sony beats it in most areas, the big one is price. I spent 1/2 what the Sony costs and according to this guy have #2. I'm quite happy with my position considering. Funny thing is all the detractions he mentions has not been anything I've noticed lacking in my picture. Maybe my lack of tech awareness helps me enjoy my picture just as well. Now if I could put the 2 sets side-by-side maybe the differences would become more clear. I suppose the same could be said with others who have sets 1/2 the price of mine as well! We can all be unwitting players to our own ignorance and yet equally happy with what we each possess.

Enjoy!

When do we get to see a pic of your setup?
Setup is still a work in progress/a mess but heirs a couple pics...

I have my eye on the 65X805D. Only $1400 now on sale so maybe later this year it will drop a bit more. I'd still like to hold off for OLED but the price is going to keep me out of it for a really long time. If I could win the LED backlight bleed lottery on something like this I may be up for it. 55" is only $1000 but I already have a 51" now so if I go 4K I want bigger.

I'm officially a proud owner and in the 4K UHD/SUHD HDR banwagon. I was gonna get the Sony XBR-65X850D but decided to go with the Samsung 65" 4K SUHD instead from Costco (I really like their return policy and warranty). Actually I bought two Samsung TVs. One as a PC Monitor (40" KU6290) and for the Living Room (65" KS800D aka KS8000). Watch the Lakers game last night on my KS800D and Holy s***. I can't wait for the Superbowl.

Note: I'm so tempted to upgrade my PS4 to a PRO, but I'm broke as f*** right now.

None of the stores around me have this TV in stock, I really want to see one in person but haven't had the chance yet. I do hope they work on getting this type of set up in smaller sets like 50-55 inch, it sounds like a great option for people who don't trust the reliability of OLED but still want deep blacks.

Sweet. Since it looks like you won the lottery, buy all of us TVs!

Down the line, I'm going to get a Samsung too. And just like you, from Costco. Great prices and return policy as you said. Also, if you are keen enough to notice, they also give you a 90 days price matching policy. Since Costco TVs never have the same product code as another store, the price matching is against their own stock.

When I bought a 40" Samsung TV a few years ago for my bedroom, just by luck I saw that it was $100 cheaper one day. I told them and they gave me back $100 cash. They made note to me they only do this once on electronics and only within 90 days of purchase price.

I've always been a Panasonic guy for all my stuff, but that small Samsung I have is great. Also, Panny seems to be scaling back TVs. Much harder to find them as some stores don't even carry the brand anymore. But Sammys are everywhere.

The 4k/HDR Sammys at Costco Canada are all in that $1,500-2,500 when I see them at the store. I'm assuming the pricier models are better, but for me as long as it's 4k, HDR, has good fast motion, I think that's all I need. Lots of TVs with those nitpicky special features I don't care about.

I have a top rated seller who can sell you a 65 inch version for about $4 G

That's a good price considering what it normally retails for, I just don't have a room big enough to put it in right now. I watch most of my movies/play games in my bedroom which would probably be too small for a 65. inch set. I just got a 50 inch set in October and that seems about the right size. If they release smaller sets with that tech and your seller carries them keep me in mind and also thanks for letting me know about that price :)

Unfortunately they don't make em smaller then 65 inch....
You could get a Vizio P series in 50 or 55 I think and they are great sets.

I am pretty happy with my Sony X800D for now, low input lag even without going into gaming mode (don't feel any delay) and it looks great. I would however sell that in a second and buy one of the Sony's with that master drive system if they made them smaller than 65 inch, that sounds like the best LED set on the market.

for the size range you aren't getting a better tv than that vizio which will put out a far better picture than edge lit displays in the same size.

I wished I won the lottery. Tax refund got me these TVs :). Costco FTW!!!

Nice to see the link in that article rates my Samsung TV #1 and yours #3 behind LG OLED. Good stuff!!!
Pioneer (RIP) > Samsung = Panasonic > LG = Sony = Sharp = Vizio > Toshiba = Philips

Going forward, my next tv will likely be a Samsung. Unless there is a Vizio model (hit and miss in reviews) that rises above, I don't see any brand beating the typical Samsung tv which is:

- Great features
- Great price
- Lots of models to choose from
- I think every store that carries tvs always has Samsungs, so you can pick and choose with total freedom

But if Pioneer was still around and their tvs were $500 cheaper, I'd go Pioneer all the way. I remember when LCDs and plasmas were fairly new and 40" models were still going for $2,000. Pioneer's would be at least $3,000 for the same size screen!

It's really all personal opinion . To me my Vizio p65 displays a better picture then my parents comparable sammy.(my parents Sammy does display a damn good picture though ) Especially in a darker room environment . (Would give the edge to Sammy in a bright room environment) Also Vizio supporting both HDR formats is a hugh plus as well. I did alot of research and money was not an issue for my buying decision. It's almost been a year and this set still displays and performs better then any set I have ever owned or seen in person .

It is personal opinion to a extent but we can't argue facts/specs.
With that being said I would never take intells opinion serious for anything.
