The Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, and Z3 Tablet Compact are joining the PS Vita in being able to stream and play PlayStation 4 games away from the console. Starting in November, the three members of the new Z3 family will allow you to play your PS4 games directly on their screens so long as they are on the same Wi-Fi network as the big games machine. This is a major step on the way to Sony finally making good on its perpetual promise of PlayStation gaming on mobile devices. The Japanese company even says that PS4 Remote Play will be "theoretically" possible over a web connection, but is hedging its bets by recommending that you have both the console and remote device hooked up to the same Wi-Fi network and plugged into a fast internet connection.

"NO INTENT TO BRING IT TO ANYTHING OTHER THAN XPERIA DEVICES."

To make the transition to a smaller screen easier, Sony also recommends using the official DualShock controller, for which it is introducing a new GCM10 Game Control Mount, which is essentially a bit of scaffolding designed to hold up your smartphone or tablet while gaming.

The trio of Z3 devices are launching later this autumn and the Remote Play compatibility will be introduced in November, but don't look for Sony to expand availability of this feature too rapidly. The company says it has "no intent to bring it to anything other than Xperia devices."

I was thinking of getting an Xperia as my next phone.

yeah I posted this earlier upon reading it further....

IS DUMB on Sony's part.

They may need additional hardware to do it, it's not coming to the Z2 phone which only released here in May.

Does the ps4 have to be connected to wi-fi? Or can you use an wired connection?

I probably will never use this feature but if the phone is released on Sprint as is rumored it will be my next phone.

I think you should wait until Z3 hit's the stores if that's the case, from the reviews it sounds alot better than the previous iterations (Z2/Z1).
This new one sounds great if it's true that they've doubled the battery-life. :-/
Also really interesting about the new lens. :)

I'll definitely be waiting for the z3. I have another 8 months or so left on my contract. Have you used an Xperia? What's Sony overlay like? I like HTC because the sense overlay is quite minimal and compliments Android nicely. Equally I can not stand Samsung phones because of Touchwiz

I use a cheap Samsung now, not really liking it. Battery overheated on my old Samsung Note 2 - and it grew really hot, and later stopped taking charge. :-/ Not that impressed with the build quality.

I've used some co-workers experia, but only for voice-calls.. So don't know much about it.
