Not exactly wrong, just a lot more polished. If you like this type of story you'll dig this for sure. From what I'm reading, this sounds like an updated version of Battle Royal with a sprinkle of Hunger Games which was a rip of Battle Royal?
Didn't read spoiler, but I'll give it a go now that I'm done with Midnight Mass. Not exactly wrong, just a lot more polished. If you like this type of story you'll dig this for sure.
Posted this in the TV Show thread, but I'll reiterate here
show was really good and definitely had me hooked, but I started losing interest when they started bringing in the VIP's. If they're going to do a second season, I would have liked to see this kind of thing brought in, not the first. Loved all the games, and the Marbles episode really got me. My poor boy Ali

I think the Wachowskis own the rights to an anime in which the recreated certain scenes from it….but I could be thinking of a different movie/director too (Squid game is good but not as good as the hype might have you believe. I finished it and enjoyed it but I watch a lot of Chinese, Korean and Japanese shows both live action and animation, so although it was good a lot of people who haven’t been exposed to this type of media will be impressed as it’s something new and different but for people who watch anime etc this is standard fare.
Reminds me of the first Matrix, which was very good but again if you watched a lot of Hong Kong cinema and anime back in the day, you will have seen similar action sequences as this, but the majority of western audiences who watched the matrix were blown away as they have never seen OTT action on this epic scale before.
yeah Matrix was def based on ghost in the shell.I think the Wachowskis own the rights to an anime in which the recreated certain scenes from it….but I could be thinking of a different movie/director too (
dude, itll probably keep me up until I figure it out). They did say that there were many anime that influence some of the scenes and posted out which ones in an interview, think it was ghost in the shell.
I know one director got the rights to perfect blue and used it to creat his interpretation with black swan.
Agree 100%. I got pretty angry at the VIP introductions. It almost ruined the whole show it’s that bad. That was forced and poorly written. Not exactly wrong, just a lot more polished. If you like this type of story you'll dig this for sure.

No reason for spoiler tags. I put warning in title.I enjoyed this for what it was.
The ending left it open for a season 2 but I would have preferred if he just went to see his daughter in America.

The marble game was spectacular piece of writing.
Yeah that part actually was so out of place it felt like Netflix added it on separate or something.Agree 100%. I got pretty angry at the VIP introductions. It almost ruined the whole show it’s that bad. That was forced and poorly written.

Kinda ironicI guess blame Koreas film industry, but who knows how his original contract was laid out.
