Interesting, was only a matter of time. But I do t think traditional console vendors have anything to worry about just yet. Next gen consoles will still lead the way, the question is what happens after that. Stadia and next gen consoles will have the same power, the games will look and perform slightly worse due to on the fly compression and input lag but convenience is the winner here. Also the ability to iterate and inovate quickly.

We need to know price and game catalog.

Any exclusives?

I don't really understand how it works. Not really interested, because I'm not going to bother with this. #calvinpeeing, there's your streaming.

Sounds like competition for MS.

Is PS Now really that bad???

There will be exclusives, who knows how many but they’ll be under the guiding eyes of Jade Raymond

I've been playing almost only PS4 exclusives for the past 3 years. Sure, a few multiplatform titles here and there, but 3/4 of the games I played were PS4 exclusives, from early 2016 to now. So I've had plenty to keep me entertained. Hell, I haven't even gotten around to playing Spider-man yet.

Next big game on the radar for me is Days Gone, 4/26.

Ditto on Spider-Man, won’t start that till I finish BoTW >,< Days Gone has done nothing for me, feels like sons of anarchy meets the last of us with no sense of emotional hook story wise. TLOU 2 has my eyes and heart at the moment.

Wow I like his point about them not doing it properly though, honestly I don't know anyone who's actually asking for a streaming service yet regardless of who's offering it. I know that seems to be where everyone says we are going but I just don't know how successful this kind of thing is going to be in the near term. There are so many limiting factors and I honestly don't think most console players or PC players who want games that reach a certain level of graphical fidelity will be excited about playing a standard game on their phone or tablet, most games meant to be played with a controller or mouse and keyboard won't offer the same gameplay experience on a touch screen. If you are someone who mainly plays on your tv than having a console isn't really that big of a deal, and this will likely come with a subscription fee that will end up costing us more in the long term.

Does this kind of seem like a massive waste of bandwidth?

Also, I'm not sure how different amounts of internet lag would be addressed. Either from the controls or the service the video is received with?

Unless they are using some kind of crazy effective type of compression, then yeah, it seems like a huge waste of bandwidth.

Not much more than Netflix, I imagine. The only real difference would be the tiny bit of upload data from your controller. I don't think Bandwidth is the issue so much straining their server tech.

They can say it's a 10 TF GPU, but unless they have one for every person playing, they have to split those resources. Are the graphics gonna be crappy during high traffic times?

Also consider that you turn off your console when you aren't using it. It's getting a rest. Servers are always going, so they wear out much faster. Think about the crypto farmers. They were chewing up the graphics card market.

Latency....

Why are they going after streaming?
Give it a rest and wait till the infrastructure is actually THERE....

My question is will it EVER be there?
I mean, distance, no matter how small has an impact. There is latency even with local machines, with added latency from the Display itself. Having to send a signal that far and back will always result in lag. Unless you're sending it at light speed or something.

The real question is about how acceptable that lag is, and whether it can be good enough to render local hardware moot.

I still don't even get why anyone thinks it's needed, most "gamers" play on a monitor or a TV, they don't want to play their games on phones or tablets so needing a console or PC isn't much of a problem. I don't care what any of these companies announce right now, it's all BS until they can prove it works with a lot of people gaming at the same time in different locations, anything done in a controlled environment is meaningless.

Yeah that's the other thing I don't get, how is this cheaper for them? If we buy the machine they are making all of the money back plus they aren't being charged for power to run the servers or to replace/repair them etc. They aren't losing money on anything they sell physically right now, shipping etc is all worked into the price.

I'm confused. Is there any hardware associated with this, besides the controller?

Ok. I'm also confused about the 10.7 TF figure. What is that referring to, if not to an individual PC-like machine that you own? I suspect it is referring to something in the interwebs which I do not understand.

It's referring to one of the 8K + nodes that Google have around the world. Too be honest it's very hard to be believe and even the showcase they delivered didn't have anything like that.

Call of Duty on Google Stadia....

  • What hardware do you need to get Stadia on your TV? “Chromecast is the way that you reach TV at launch.” And, by the way, an Xbox controller won’t do the trick: “In order to reach our Chromecast, you need the Stadia controller.” You can use whatever USB controller you want on PC, though.

Everything about this thing sounds terrible. What happened to the new Atari?

I think it's the Custom AMD GPUs they are using. It seems misleading to me because I have doubts that one person will have all of that to themselves. They'd have to have one card per user online at the time. Seems unlikely.

Ok, that makes sense.

With the Xbox controller running off of WiFi between it and the Xbox could it be possible for software update that allows it to connect straight to your WiFi, like the stadia controller, and play that way? The lack of a dedicated capture and mic/mic-button will limit it in some aspects.

Dude, will their mic always be on, listening and catering to my profile?

Anyone else find it kind of scary that google will now have data from your phone, browser, YouTube, and gaming now, driving too if you use maps and or pair it up with android auto??? All data collected on you and those around you who’ll influence what you see.
