The other 99 players aren't the only threat in the upcoming BR shooter from ex-Stalker devs Vostok Games.

Since we're going to be neck deep in E3 trailers soon, it's not a bad idea to get our eyeballs on a few early. Vostok Games, developer of Survarium, has released a cinematic trailer for its upcoming battle royale shooter Fear the Wolves. The arena is Chernobyl, and the other 99 players dropping in aren't the only threat: in the trailer above, the titular wolves make an appearance, as well as radioactive areas and mysterious and deadly anomalies.

Stalker meets battle royale, in other words, which makes perfect sense as Vostok Games was formed by developers from GSC Game World, makers of the Stalker series.

In Fear the Wolves, scavenged gear can protect you from radiation and give you an advantage over unprotected players as you make your way to an extraction point, indicated by a hovering chopper that only has room for the last player left alive. It also sounds like wolves will be joined by other creatures as well:
"Wolves are the first of our mutants to be revealed," the trailer description reads. "Roaming in packs and picking off stragglers, they have adapted to the radioactive environment and evolved into savage, decaying beasts. While on their own they pose a mere inconvenience, a pack will drain your ammo and leave you injured—or worse—if you aren’t careful. They’re just as deadly and hostile to your enemies, and how you use that will determine your survival."
Fear the Wolves will enter Early Access this summer.

On PC in 2018, consoles in 2019

Battle Royale games need long distance sight lines. As a lover of the genre this does little to pique my interest. Hope they show more interesting stuff from it though.

GSC GameWorld has just released the first official screenshot for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be using Unreal Engine 4, and this screenshot will give you an idea of the graphics/visuals it will feature.

From what we know so far, the main inspiration for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is the original trilogy (Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat). STALKER 2 will be the most ambitious game from GSC GameWorld, and its main feature will be its unique atmosphere. The developers aim to make a really atmospheric game, similar to what the original STALKER was when it came out.

Furthermore, the team will be working on making modding tools so that modders can start creating new content when the game comes out.

I won't hold my breath. Different teams from SoC and Call of Pripyat.
I'm going to wait and see. Loved the original games. Still have them installed on my computer.

Loved them all. Truly one of the best RPG/FPS games ever made. I agree with Tribunal, I wouldn't hold breath. I hope they can pull it off though.

Who was the guy at TXB that was all over S•T•A•L•K•E•R when it came out? He loved the game.

I know who you are talking about. He also had the STALKER avatar too.

Shouldn't this be in the multi play section? Looking forward to seeing more of this.

Are they not going to release Call of Pripyat and Shadow of Chernobyl on console before 2 comes out? I guess what I'm saying is i would highly recommend playing those first. I heard that 2 is a continuation of the trilogy storywise.

There should be a trilogy remaster for PC and Consoles. The game still looks amazing with mods by today's standards, but throw in some raytracing, global illumination etc. I'd be a happy camper.

I don't think it is a continuation. Originally it was supposed to be as it was coming in a typical time frame for a sequel, but that was 10 years ago, this was a Xbox 360 era title initially. Then it got re announced 6 years after being cancelled.

I think this will be a Tomb Raider-esque reboot rather than a full on sequal.

Hmm I thought I read awhile back that it was. It was an article from a couple of years ago so things could've changed.

I haven't seen anything that definitivly states it is. All I have seen officially said is more vague stuff, like ' it will stay true to the original trilogy.' Stuff like that, basically just re-assuring fans.
