Star Citizen

They haven't deliver on their initial promise and they keep saying they will add more. I'm glad I didn't back them personally. I'm not saying they are trying to con people. I'm just questioning if theyll actually deliver in the end.

Would be silly to say otherwise. That said, this project is probably the most intriguing game development out there to me. It's the farthest I've ever seen anyone get to that fantasy, all included game I've always dreamt about. Even weirder is that I'll probably never play it given I don't game on PC anymore.

There is a large part of me that wants them to pursue every ambition they have. Just for the attempt. I wonder how many production techniques will be improved because of this game. It's kinda unbelievable what they've done so far...

They've monetized scope creep, which is disturbing in itself.

That’s it exactly. I’ve seen scope creep in some longer term ambitious projects I’ve been involved with but what is happening here defies all industry norms.

Forgot about this thing.... still adding features I see!:laugh:

I look forward to my great grandchildren playing the full release.

I don’t think they’ll ever be a "full” release tbh like a lot of MMO’s. They’re certainly pushing the boundaries though in what can be done with enough time, money and effort. The actual single player game looks like it’s less than a year out. No reason why it shouldn’t come to next gen consoles, they’re certainly powerful enough.

It's been 10 years at this stage.

Kickstarter was September 2012 and there was about 3 devs. By the time they got themselves properly organised with a couple of hundred devs it was 2016. Don’t get me wrong, development has been a mess and a lot of trial and error but they’ve been in proper development for about 4 years. They’ve also had to literally pioneer a lot of things that had never been done before in a game. There’s definitely been a lot of mismanagement and feature creep but slowly and surely they are getting there. Some of the things in game today are truly mind blowing.
Most devs are working on the single player game Squadron 42 in their Manchester studio (around 300). They have a studio in Germany made up of ex Crytek devs working on the engine and the remaining devs work in Santa Monica and Austin, Texas that work on Star Citizen. Personally I would have preferred the majority of devs work on Star Citizen as that’s what a lot of backers are mainly interested in. It’s definitely had its ups and downs but there is a hell of a lot of misinformation going on around the game.

Forbes did a great break down of it and I do not believe any of it is misinformation. Roberts stated at the beginning that the game was already in development 12 months when he announced it, so yeah, it is nearly 10 years (if you believe Roberts of course, who is dubious at best). I think most people would like to see this game reach a retail release as it is so ambitious but will it be another decade of missed deadlines and broken promises?

Sure, Roberts may well have said that when he was looking to make a $2 million budget game. I’ve followed the development avidly for this game since 2013. When the millions started pouring in the scope was massively expanded, they had to start from scratch and like I said, there was a handful of devs. Production of the game didn’t start properly until 2016. No doubt there has been a lot of mismanagement but to be fair Roberts has stuck to his vision and fingers crossed they’ll get there.

Sadly I still get notifications from this mess of a game when people post. Please though, keep reminding me of this failure..I deserve it.

Idris capital ship firing its Railgun from orbit down to planet. Whatever your views on this game, surely we can agree this is awesome.

How is this scam still going. Like I know gamers are fools at time but come on.
