Official Thread Star Wars Battlefront 2

Which is why they need to do something now to get some positive PR and hope to get some holiday sales. Their planned revenue is gone one way or another. Only way to salvage it now is announce free DLC and zero microtransactions for the life of the game, then put the thing out for $40 at the holiday digitally and hope people jump.

This is my big problem with the internet rage machine - they get a game changed... and don't buy it anyway.

Good PR? Perhaps, but is EA supposed to eat the cost of the DLC? That is not a sustainable model at all. Sounds like a good way to not get new games at all. I really wish people can take a balanced stance on this stuff.

If it wasn't Star Wars, they could just have Cosmetic MC's that pay for new maps. Maybe even have a Halo 5 Warzone style mode with crazy stuff you can buy that can supplement continued support.

I get what you are saying, but it is too late for BF2. What they do moving forward is different. The model for BF2 is never going to work if they don't sell games now.

Paid DLC for BF2 would be fine in theory, but if nobody buys the base game...

I took a balanced view on this before. You and I were one of the few. Nobody bought the damn game even after changes. That's the problem.

EA doing nothing while the movie launches and the holiday comes and will be gone soon is a huge mistake.

No reason they couldn't have still done that and no that doesn't mean making Vader pink.

Ultimately the game is fun. It is still casual like the 1st one, but fixes a lot of issues it had. The game modes are fun without being too complicated for a bunch of casuals running around. From an fps standpoint, the game is a blast to play. The classes really bring a lot more into the game and bring something missing from the 1st.

Heroes aren't horribly overpowered like in the 1st game.

I got my tickets to 11pm Saturday night. I can't wait.

Yeah they could have done decals for ships and guns, just some little things and that would have been fine.

I understand why people didn't buy the game despite the changes. The money stream was may be off, but it's effect are still in the game.

The progression system was tied to money and that is what breaks the game. The core game is fun, but the unwieldily progression system is just so bad:
  • Lets have you press through several annoying screens to get your loot
  • Let's have these awesome sound effects to revel : duplicate, duplicate, credits (The loot crates sounds have become more ironic than anything)
  • Lets block your ability to craft cards based upon random luck with needing cards for the character you use to level up up that character. Basically your level is locked to the randomness of the cards you get! (I keep getting duplicates of cards and cards for things I don't use, so my assault trooper is still blocked even though it's mainly what I play).
Then there are things that just missing. It feels very bare bones.
  • The great single player that could've been. Just cut short and under developed.
  • No online coop in arcade
  • The number of maps feels small
  • A Gold edition to get all DLC. Makes me fear the gouging to come!

The system is confusing and too busy. EA thought people wanted a "loot" game and they don't.

You should be able to craft star cards as long as you have parts? You also get a free crate every day just for logging in. Try to remember to pop on every day (even if you don't play) and grab a crate. That will built up crafting materials which help a lot.

It took me until recently to even realize you can just craft cards you don't have. I couldn't figure out why none of my classes would ever level up no matter how much I played them.

They released a free story update to Iden's story. It's a nice addition. It adds to the First Order Troopers background story. It also adds to the whole conflicted nature of the game. So much good mixed with sooo much bad. If they continue to release episodic content it could really make the game a much better value.

A friend told me Best Buy had this for $30 and it will also be on the Winter digital sale. I might get it on the digital sale. A couple friends play the MP and they like it.

The game itself is fun. For all the drama, it is a fun improvement over the original. The classes add a new dimension to the game while still making it a casual kind of game (in a good way if you liked the original).

Plus it has a solid SP campaign, and the DLC includes more SP missions. Some of the MP gameplay decisions they made prevented me from picking it up at release, but honestly I still want to buy it just to play the campaign.

It sounds like the movie is getting almost as much hate as the game.

Apparently even Mark Hamill is butt hurt over the portrayal of Luke in this movie. Said "He's not my Luke Skywalker" "I still haven't accepted it".

I wonder if Hamill will be in episode 9?

I just turned my brain off and enjoyed it. I get and agree with the points against it, but Star Wars lost it's magic a long time ago.

I really enjoyed the movie. I liked that it was different and didn’t play out the way I thought it would. Wasn’t perfect it had a couple faults.

I ended up getting a digital copy of SW BF2 for $35 on the sale. Looking forward to playing it in the morning. Normally I would just wait till it hits EA Access but I liked what I played in the beta and have some buddies to play it with.

Boy I have too many shooters to play now...

Played a couple games this morning, I like it. It makes you feel like your in a Star Wars battle. I’m in a SW mood since seeing the new film so this is great.

I've unlocked almost every weapon and attachment I've noticed those are way more important than Star Cards. The cards do offer bonuses that can make a difference but if you're using a good weapon with attachments and your aim is true you'll win most fights. Ohh yeah, turn off aim assist and switch to free aim. That stupid aim crap will slow/pull your sight every time you aim at a group of enemies and people seem to like to bunch up in this game.

Christmas noobs are out in force making me feel godly. But then I play a game with people who know what they are doing and I'm immediately reminded of my mortality. I've been playing the sh!t out of this game. So damn addicting and most of all fun.

.

But does this aim feature add to the realism if you're a Storm Trooper?

Played some more of this tonight. First played some Starfighter Assault then played with a couple buddies on the Strike mode. This game is a lot of fun!
