Official Thread Star Wars Battlefront 2

For anyone still playing (or anyone who shelved the game), they are making some big changes starting this week. The progression system is getting fixed and will be a lot simpler and linear now (play a certain class and level up that class).

Here's a good video showing the changes.

Also, Bespin coming back!

Good to see EA still putting out free updates.

I really hope this new microtransaction model works for them, as I think it works best for gamers. Free DLC along with paid cosmetics.

Yes this is micro transaction done the right way. I hope all MP shooters going forward offer new maps/content for free then add paid cosmetics for items, weapons, and characters. I don’t spend money on that stuff, but I’m sure there are a ton of people that do.

BF V is going with this model from day 1 so hopefully it goes well. The problem is that there's still a lot of residual EA hate out there. People really need to get over it. Cosmetic only microtransactions with free DLC is the best model we're going to get.

Ughh. Part of me wants to give this game a chance again... but it was so damn terrible. And I didn't even care about the whole DLC debacle, bought the game day 1 regardless.

Battlefront 1 was flawed... but fun until they nerfed everything fun about the game. But this game? Complete ass. The hero balancing was even worse than the first. Are we supposed to enjoy being a trooper going against a Yoda that dashes in, kills five and dashes out just to regenerate health? And the maps were somehow even more poorly balanced than the first.

The small team gametypes? All come to complete stalemates if any team is half decent.

EA isn't the devil, Dice isn't the devil. But they both suck now.

So great to see the game getting more post launch support. I popped in a few weeks ago and the game has really improved.

I had it on X1 but got it on PC for like $5 too.

What enlightened drivel
Loot box RNG based progression was a mistake born entirely of greed. It was rightly called out and removed.

Thinking the perception only came from some media slander is being willfully ignorant of the facts. This system was in the alphas and betas. We played it. We saw it before going live. There really aren't any other ways about it.

People are still upset over this? My gosh, they did exactly what the gaming community asked and haven't tried it again in any new games.

Being toxic all the time won't get you what you want.

This.

People got butt hurt, they removed it, Game was good at release, some people still butt hurt.

Look man. Everyone is allowed to have fun with the game, but it is a lie to say the game released "fine" and it's pretty low to label the effort that only led to genuine improvements as "toxic."

In what world is paying for an advantage something we should be okay with? Even removing the monetary aspect, as they did rather quickly, all progression was still entirely random. It was not fun, it was not intuitive, and it did not respect the players time. The system was clearly the result of greed.

They fixed their mistake and the game is on a much better path. (it's still got a host of other issues like the officer teams, aim drift, and missed/delayed inputs) But it's plain stupid to forget or try to downplay what they did.

Yeah... who's toxic?

Forget what they did? It was one of the biggest stories in gaming of all time. Their sales got crushed and the game has been in the bargain bin for a long time. When is it enough?

Are we complaining to improve things, or just to complain? If gamers cry all the time, they are going to get ignored.

Game companies are going to ignore the next blacklash because if it never ends for them, they may as well ignore people.

I also suggest that before you call people liars, you check your facts. I know I was a long time ago, but you're incorrect. You're repeating the popular lies that went around back then.

We can agree on the last part - we want to stop talking cosmetic microtransactions and actually talk gameplay fixes. Can't really do that when everyone screams "boycott" anytime the game comes up.

The problem is cancel culture. The grassroots campaign that came up to force EA to reverse their system was amazing!

However, calling your fellow gamers "stupid" 2 years after the system was completely removed is what's known as "cancel culture". You want all mention if "it" and anyone who plays "it" removed from the record. You want everyone to FOAD - f*** off and die.

We attack - they change it. That works. We attack, they change it, we attack more. That fails. If the cancel culture gets their way, we'd never see games like this or No Man's Sky rise from the ashes. That happening isn't a win for gamers.

First, list one lie I'm parroting.

Next, what's with this putting words in my mouth? I'm not saying any of the nonsense you're implying I am. I bought the damn game. I still play it. I do not want everyone to f*** off and die. I do not want the game scrubbed from existence. I do not hate those who currently enjoy the game or those who develop the game. I'm fully willing to move on from what happened but dru here keeps painting the situation as little more than a whiny fuss.
That's my only point of contention.

This game on EA access = great value, should've been on it day one imo.
Game alone should (as I hoped it got? ) be boycotted.
Game is great.
The p2w issues were fixed b4 it launched.
Fake reviews and fake people who didn't play it are stuck on stupid and say things like this post.

They removed what everyone complained about before launch. I got the game around launch and I had no problem with the progression system, unlocking what I wanted from playing the game. Feel like you are blowing this way out of proportion. Prove us wrong with facts after the release.... we’re waiting.

My problem is the media and arm chair internet critics ran the game into the ground even after release because they wouldn’t let the “pre release” problem die. I never said it was ok what they tried to put into the game. People were pissed and they fixed it. Problem is people stayed pissed.
