Star Wars IX - The Rise Of Skywalker ** Contains Spoilers** Enter at your own risk!

They are all watchable. Only 1 and 2 are truly bad but there aren't that many I would consider to be great films either. People put the series on a pedestal that doesn't really make a lot of sense at this point and that just leads to negativity that also doesn't really make sense.

I rewatched TFA and TLJ last night. Films are fine I enjoyed them.

I still can see why some people have problems with them.

People claim to get tired of the same old things in films, get mad as hell when a film wanders of the Formula / Template.

The Last Jedi was a bit of a meandering mess, yet I found it hilarious they dispatched Snoke already. I'm like WTF the Archvillain is already dead!?

It's a bit off the rails, but I'm curious to see what else they can pull out of it.

No matter what they did with the final film people were going to be ready to dislike it.

The only films that has parts that are tough to get through mainly because of the acting is TPM and AOTC. After rewatching all the films over the last few months I enjoyed watching them all.
I want to buy the 9 pack 4K UHD collectors edition if one ever comes out.

I still think rise of Skywalker will kill it at the box office. Gonna see it this weekend. Can’t wait.

what, you didn’t a private screen or go to the premier???

Why on earth would the managers at Disneyland and other departments/studios get to watch it a few days ago before you, who actual worked on it?

Shame on you Disney

There is no way this movie can win, the Last Jedi basically made the second movie in the trilogy a filler episode of a tv show so a huge chunk of time that could have been spent on plot development and character building was lost. Johnson didn't do anything to advance any of the story elements that were started in the Force Awakens, if anything he threw them out while at the same time not mapping out his own storyline. He and that idiot Kathleen Kennedy should never be allowed near this franchise again.

I watched bits and pieces of the Last Jedi again the other day and the scene with the bombers cracked me up, if they had those bombers why weren't they sent against Star Killer base along with X-wings? I don't think they even sent any Y-wings which are also bombers, it's clear Johnson was just coming up with things he wanted even if it didn't really blend with the rest of the series.

They wanted to sell a run of X-wing toys first

In retrospect Abrams shouldn't have ended 7 the way he did as it made doing any kind of time skip more difficult. Which hurts pushing the plot and characters forward.

It goes back to Kennedy not pushing to have a complete outline of what she wanted to do with the trilogy, she's the one running the show there and she should have had at least some type of cohesive vision before they spent hundreds of millions of dollars on three movies that made money (well two of them have) but also really hurt the franchise's reputation.

Not to change the subject but I do think it's funny how some people act like George Lucas is a victim in this, the guy got billions and the last three movies he made weren't very good either. It's crazy to think that people love the first three movies so much that they continue to hold this franchise in such high regard when there have been more bad movies than good.

I wouldn't even want to picture what this trilogy would look like if Lucas made it. He couldn't even stop making the good ones worse..

It's hard to watch some of the things he did without laughing, I know many point out Vader yelling "No" when he first woke up as being awful but Palpatine saying "no no no" when Windu was standing over him was far worse lol.

I wouldn't go that far. Its a bit goofy but I don't mind it.

Both examples are really just something that needs more takes. The real offensive "NO" is the one added to the end of ROTJ for absolutely no reason.

When Vader told Luke he was his father Hamill's performance was pretty bad too, wait he was yelling no too wasn't he? Damn what is it with Lucas and the word NO? lol

In the case of Luke and Palpatine it's not just bad acting you can also tell it was dubbed in.

I think Obi Wan had a good no in Ep 1 when Qui Gon dies. So there is at least one.

The critics alone seem VERY divided on IX. Crazy!

I skimmed the review summaries on RT since they give out no plot points. Some critics say they enjoyed it and Star Wars fans should enjoy it, while others say it does nothing new and could have been better. They do say it tries to wrap things up.

Going dark in this thread I’ll see what everyone thinks here after I see it. I’m still hyped!

I just finished re-watching Force Awakens and Last Jedi to prep for Rise of Skywalker.

Force Awakens was a good movie. It was a bit too heavy handed with the similarities to the OT, but I was fine with that.

The Last Jedi however has some elements that bugged me when I first watched it and still bother me:

Canto Bight - it was a nice idea in concept, but not intriguing enough. The guy with the red flower pin was a complete caricature of a character, making the entire scene a joke. The casino needed more intrigue and depth to the characters there.

Rose - I like her character, and the actress performed her part nicely, but the way she was portrayed as an animal activist was too heavy handed, and felt forced. Further, it seemed she could do no wrong in the movie.

Holdo - Why does she have pink hair and why is she wearing an evening gown? Everyone else was wearing military attire. Her character was great though. The hyperdrive suicide move was awesome to see in the theater, and I don't really have a problem with the concept of it, even if it doesn't make sense.

Mary Poppins - It is horrible. I would have preferred it if Leia made a force bubble or anything else to protect herself from being ejected into space. Hell, when she flies back to the ship, there's no airlock and she opens the main door without consequence.

Poe's Opening Joke - atrocious and cringey.

Things I didn't mind, but people dislike:

Luke - honestly, I have no issues with Luke being dejected by his failure with Kylo. I liked the way Luke redeemed himself in the end, saving everyone.

Snoke - after being disappointed with Boba Fett and Maul's dispatching in their films, I wasn't disappointed when Snoke got killed. The way it was done was clever.

Conclusion: Last Jedi had too many big issues for me to rank it very high among all of the Star Wars films. I am hoping Rise of Skywalker is as good as Force Awakens.

Well, it's the internet. Besides the original 4, 5, and 6.....everyone has complained about the most recent 6 movies. And even with 4, 5 and 6, people complained about 6 a lot. So really:

Good:
4
5

Bad:
1
2
3
6
7
8
9

So why do people get excited for Star Wars?
1,2, 3, 8 are pretty bad. but 2 did give us cool Yoda fight scene.
