Star Wars IX - The Rise Of Skywalker ** Contains Spoilers** Enter at your own risk!

2 and 3 are fine. Sometimes it feels like people compare them to the og trilogy like they were shawshank redemption, they're not great movies lol
I do love them though.

The original two are considered classics even from critics so its understandable to have high expectations for the series except for the fact that that was 40 years ago.

ESB is my favorite film of all time. All other Star Wars can't compare. The OG is great in building a universe from scratch, which cannot be overstated. All others are just 'fine'. I hated Ep 1&2, but I'm over it. They aren't great, but whatever. They are Star Wars. Ep 8 is a mixed bag for me. Like Ace, I don't hate Luke's change in path and redemption. I also thought that the Canto Bight scene was not that great, and they sold Poe short. I didn't hate it, though.

That said, I watched Ep 9 today, and I enjoyed it. I was just along for the ride. I'm kind of over being super critical just because I can. By now, I just want to watch a movie and let it tell me the darn story. It did that, and I liked the conclusion. I felt like a kid again through some of it. I know there will be haters, but I enjoyed certain elements very much. I'm OK with the haters, since the movies are sort of personal for me anyway. The opening act can seem a bit clunky, but whatever. It touches a few unexpected things, and just goes with it. I will definitely watch it again. It's no Avengers End Game, but it did satisfy me in another way.

The critic/audience scores are quite flipped from TLJ. TRoS: 58/86 vs TLJ 91/43. I'm OK with this. There's probably some kind of embedded social commentary in that, though.

Its good. I'm not even sure I understand where the negativity is coming from when you have lots of people claiming its the worst one. Casual movie goers will probably end up enjoying the entire trilogy while the internet argues why they are all worse than the Holocaust.

I think the number 1 thing this movie needed to do was make these movies work together for a trilogy which I think it does even though its far from perfect.

The Emperor is the type of thing that would have worked if he was teased in a previous movie. You want to at least pretend you aren't making things up as you go along.

I just finished re-watching Force Awakens and Last Jedi to prep for Rise of Skywalker.
...
Mary Poppins - It is horrible. I would have preferred it if Leia made a force bubble or anything else to protect herself from being ejected into space. Hell, when she flies back to the ship, there's no airlock and she opens the main door without consequence.

I watched the movies 7&8 again last week and noticed the same thing. However, the camera never looks into the door, and is abruptly cut. I'm certain that they are bringing her in from an airlock though. Otherwise, it just doesn't make sense. Even there being a door there without an airlock wouldn't make sense. I'd rather think that this was just 'too lean' editing. I mean, it doesn't NOT show her being pulled from an airlock.

The Last Jedi was a bit odd and meandering but I enjoyed it. I gave it the benefit of the doubt about what they're trying to say about good and evil. I mean there are morally grey character like Finn as an ex-StormTrooper and Del Toro's weapons dealer guy playing both sides.

I also thought Snoke dying already was crazy and hilarious.

With that said, I'll just say that while Last Jedi departed from the usual STAR WARS story template, it felt like Rise of Skywalker to the wheel giving the ship and extremely hard steer to get back on the formulaic story track as fast as possible by whatever means necessarily to placate fans.

Otherwise, I will say Ian Mcdiarmid was pretty badass even if his character had little depth.

Are you predictably defending Disney and liking this movie?

How does it stack up to the good Star Wars movies?
It closes out the trilogy, and the saga. I've seen every movie in the theater since 77. I'm a fan, and I wouldn't have NOT seen a Star Wars movie because of Disney or somesh!t. Not after making it through and excepting the prequels. That imo is not what a fan would do. George chose to sell to Disney, and he hand-picked Kathleen Kennedy. You don't like it, stay away from Star Wars discussion. I've already given my impressions.. If you don't care enough about the characters to see how it ends, you probably won't like it.

I enjoyed the movie. If people want to nitpick it to death, they certainly can and will. I enjoyed it. As someone who's not a fan of JJ, he made it work for the most part.

The journey to get here was far from perfect and the movies are far from perfect. However I'm glad I was able to go on it from a little kid in the 70s to an old(er) man today.

Can badmonk talk about the stunts they did? Just curious. I was thinking about that at one point when seeing the storm troopers tossed around so much lol.

I wish I could get a cool job like that. C'mon someone let me drive for the Mad Max Fury Road sequel

I enjoyed it, there’s only one lingering question that is completely ignored, granted there’s a few that I’m ok with and or shouldn’t be answered...I loved it.

not a fan of the "ship" they chose to settle on but oh well. Generally loved it. I'm already speaking very broadly but just in case:
Adored the lightsaber at the end, I've been wanting that for her since 7.

Worst effect this movie had for me is that they say it's "over" just as I've gotten much more into the characters.
Oh well. It's doubtless there will be more eventually.

I haven't seen it yet but I have a hard time believing the people who say it's the worst one ever, it'd have to be absolute garbage to beat the last Jedi for that title. TLJ was the middle movie of a trilogy, a film in that spot should be the deepest (and best) because it has so to build on what was done in the previous movie and get things set up for the final film, TLJ didn't do any of that, they just went on their own path dismissing everything from The Force Awakens and introduced a some new meaningless characters who only got in the way of the main characters having time to build relationships and chemistry on screen plus it just seemed like Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica were thrown in a blender together.

we had a lot of action cut. I hope JJ releases an extended cut with deleted scenes etc at a later date.
there is 3 fight scenes where at least 70% of the action was cut. Disappointed with this but I still enjoyed the fights as they were.

I don't like TLJ but its laughable to think its worse than The Phantom Menace.

1) People get way, way too hyped and get their expectations through the roof
2) People love to complain on the interent

Anyone saying it is "prequel bad" is just doing so for clickbait.

When some people get salty, they stay salty on something and never "un-salt".

Can't be, cause that should be awesome.
