Finished it earlier this week, good game but not GOTY material as I've read on other forums. It could have used a bit more polish, there are even bugs in the cut scenes with a certain characters hair moving in a very odd and distracting way and damn Deborah Wilson has big eyes but they don't bug out like that in real life lol.

Isn't snowdrop a Ubisoft developed engine? I don't think they license it out to other parties like UE or Cryengine...

Just picked up the game today though and got to the first planet. Had to work but will be puttin' time in over the weekend...
You are in for a treat! My favorite game this year!

Game is great.
The combat could use some work though, it just don't feel great to play. And the surfing on your feet gameplay is horrible lol, can't count the times I've fallen off the edge. Good that there's only loadtimes if you die in combat and not from falling, otherwise I'd stop playing this long before I finished it.

But yeah, great game, EA should be commended for not putting microtransactions or tacked on mp in this.

Enjoying it so far but already agreeing with Swede, combat leaves something to be desired. Also, some of the navigational animations are a little on the wonky side...

I am having a totally different experience with this game. The combat is clunky and frustrating. The save system is terrible. The framerate is really bad on X1X which makes the combat that much more difficult.

I'm just dying to the first boss 100 times and I barely take a sliver of health off it. It can one hit kill me though. What am I doing wrong? I know that the monster thing doesn't go into the little cave opening but it still kills me. My blocks do no damage to it, if they work at all. I understand you can't block when it flashes red, but any attack goes through my block.

I'm having major buyers remorse with this. I'm really confused as everyone else seems to like it. It is so clunky that I can barely do the climbing parts. I moved down to the 2nd easiest and I am still unable to play. Going to try the lowest but think I better uninstall.

Really wish I didn't buy this digitally. So, people who have played Assassins Creed think that this game is good? Honestly, I need to know what I am missing. I wish I had gotten it on PC. With a solid framerate I'd probably have a chance. How can you do split second reactions at 20 fps? That's nuts.

Definatley start with the default difficulty, it gets rough in spots.

Define first boss? The first one was easy, if you stumbled on a hidden boss thats a different story.

I explored a lot and got the boosts which makes the difficulty spikes manageable if you dont want to just try it on the easist difficulty.

The parry and block windows are questionable and probably my biggest gripe with the game.

The problem is even in performance mode running 1080p the game is not running at 30fps. I get that the combat involves skill and timing, but having the fps dump in the middle of a battle and dying to a one hit is just frustrating.

I'm easily getting 20 frames per second or less on X1X. It would be fine if this were a button masher, but for a timing game? It is nearly unplayable. I mean, do I need to dodge at 20fps or 50fps?

I tried the easiest difficulty and it is basically "little kid" mode. The enemies just stand there.

Is yours installed to the internal drive? I know installing it internally helps some of the fps issues.

It is on an external. Let me move it and see if that helps. Thanks. I figured it had to be something like this. My external is not an SSD but I don't want to bother upgrading as next gen will be here soon enough.

I picked it up on sale last week and completed it last night. I’d estimate it to be a 15-18 hour experience. It’s a decent game that owes a large part of its reception to being wrapped in the Star Wars universe. If this were set in a different universe/setting I believe reviews would have been a lot harsher.

Anyway, it’s a fun game with a cool story. I always wanted to know what happened after the Jedi purge and this game gives a nice slice of that. Unfortunately the gameplay side of things is where it gets rough. The controls for this game are sloppy and imprecise. If you’re going to try and copy the Souls formula you need tight/responsive controls as a main ingredient.

Also, there is no point to a dodge mechanic when enemy attacks track the player even while dodging/evading. Another poor design decision are the stupid sliding nonsense, if you’re going to reuse a tired mechanic why not add a little something new or cool like letting the player unlock an ability to use the light saber as a rudder for steering.

The visuals were really nice to look at. And I really liked the whole Star Wars vibe from the environment and enemy designs. Although I must say this game has the most aggressive rats I’ve seen in a video game in quite some time. Overall a fun experience but one I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for. If the game had new game plus and tighter controls I would replay on a harder difficulty but it doesn’t have those things so this is a one and done affair.

Fixes & Improvements
  • We’ve fixed an issue where Bounty Hunters would sometimes get stuck in Zeffo.
  • Not only was the Photomode camera able to explode rockets, it could interact with trigger volumes within the levels that could potentially break the game. We’ve fixed this to ensure that you can continue playing the game after using Photomode. Unfortunately, this also means that rockets will be unaffected by the camera moving forward.
  • There was a bug that was causing one of the elevators in the last level to have a tendency of disappearing. It should now be present at all times.
  • We’ve improved collision on Ilum.
  • Our language translations have been updated.
  • There was an issue where some text was overlapping in Photomode for specific screen ratios. That has been fixed.
  • The Albino Wyyyschokk tactical guide entry wasn’t appearing for all users, this should now be fixed.
  • We’ve fixed Gorgara having a tendency to disappear at specific times on Dathomir.
Content
  • Pre-order content has now been unlocked for all players. This content includes:
    • Orange Lightsaber Blade Color
    • Mygeeto Campaign Lightsaber Hilt
    • Umbaran Campaign Lightsaber Hilt
    • Bee-D-1 Skin
    • Gold Squadron Stinger Mantis Skin

yeah? What's 2019's GOTY to you?

I know this wasn't directed at me but........

I haven’t played it yet (on the lookout for a sale) but everything I’ve read and seen lead me to believe Sekiro is superior to Fallen Order in just about every way. Unless you hold the Star Wars presentation so high that it overrides every other consideration. Fallen Order is a good game but in need of major tweaks and enhancements to its gameplay and mechanics for any sequel to bring it to Soulsborne status.

My personal 2019 GOTY is either Gears 5 or Borderlands 3. Leaning more towards BL3 since I’m still playing it these months later. Fallen Order was a largely forgettable experience, fun while it lasted but did nothing particularly well or memorable.

Sekiro
BL3
Jedi Fallen Order
Gears 5
Division 2

Not in order but those are my favorite out of this bad year.

Jedi Fallen Order is my GOTY for 2019. Sure, Star Wars has something to do with it. But the fact that it allowed us to have the option to play through it at an easier difficulty level allowed me to enjoy a game like this.

It's so bad that you choosing it shows you to be a PlayStation fanboy?

Wow

That's exactly why I wasn't going to name it because you come out with your childish attacks when someone doesn't agree with you and it's stupid, especially over something as subjective as what game of the year is to someone else. Grow the f*** up!

Nothing wrong with being a Star Wars super fan and its great that the difficulty scaling allowed you to enjoy the game. What I would like is that they add to that and include the option for dismemberment, I mean you’re using a laser sword, lol. Add in more force powers with greater depth for upgrades and get the game running as technically proficient as possible. An action/adventure/Soulsborne game demands precise controls and a smooth framerate.

One thing is for Sure Respawn has proven that the Titanfall 2 campaign was no fluke and that they have talent for making compelling single player experiences. And the reception Fallen Order got should show EA that there is a healthy appetite for single player experiences.

I went back and started playing the Force Unleashed games after this and I still find them to be a bit more fun, I always loved the whole Jedi being a super powered bad ass in those games plus I find the Starkiller to be a more interesting character than Cal. The villains are cool in Fallen Order but Cal just looks like he was cast for a CW Star Wars show to me. I'd love to see the Force Unleashed games remade with modern graphics but that'll never happen.

FU 1 was fun havent played 2 yet but it looks fun too. But give me Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy remastered with the MP back and i'll be in heaven. If you havent played those you should when you get a chance.

TFU2 is kinda butt. It's prettier (like actually gorgeous as I recall, but could be nostalgia*) but it's loaded with quick time event enemies that break the flow and the story is the height of EU power creep. then yoda and fett only show up for about 2 minutes combined screentime and were used just to sell copies. finally, vader using lightning is s***

*My criticism could also then be biased. Though I doubt it just a little bit.

I wouldn't hold out hope for dismemberment. Seems a LucasArts/Disney rule that it's generally not allowed. I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Speaking of which, I was honestly disappointed that you can't dismember bad guys with your lightsaber. It turns out you can, sort of. "We'll use it in select cases," senior designer Justin Perez told me, before clarifying what he meant. Basically, droids and spiders and the like can have their legs and arms (if applicable) lopped off, but not humanoids. Blame the Disney branding folks for that one, it seems.

In fact, speaking with Tatyana Drewry Carvin, a Story Artist on The Clone Wars - Season 7, we were told that these sort of rules about what you can or cannot do when it comes to removing parts of people with a lightsaber are common in Star Wars properties, alluding to the fact that this seems to be a Lucas Arts edict.

"One of the rules we were given was to always hide the cut in case of decapitation. And never show blood," Drewry Carvin said. "The burn of the lightsaber is supposed to cauterize it instantly."

And about hiding the cut of the decapitation – a good/smart way to do it is to have a camera move and have something in the Foreground hide the spot where the head gets cut." Drewry Carvin said. "Using the motion of the camera and a foreground element – like another character – is more cinematic than using a camera cut."

I do like some of the locations better in part two though, the Kamino stage with the rain looks great. I do agree the QTE's aren't needed but I've never really been a fan of that mechanic in any game.
