Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi; Ewan McGregor Returns (An Old Hope) - 2022

The #1 problem with this is the obvious prequel problem. We know where the story starts and exactly where it ends. There's zero tension. Spoiler alert! Obi Wan is going to make it out ok. While it is fun to see more of Vader and Obi Wan, it still has nothing behind it. Star Wars is never great on deep characters, so once you take any suspense out of it, you get this. It is always going to leave us hanging, because we know exactly how this story ends, and it doesn't end in this show.

School plays have better writing.
Than this yeah but I am not talking about writing. Star Wars has way too much bad writing at this point to be bothered by it. It should always look good and have well done action sequences.

Than the last trilogy. If by good action sequences you mean the protagonist never losing, sure, the last trilogy was great. Lol.

Why are you even here if you hate it so much. Go watch something else.

Been enjoying this and Episode 5 was great, but seriously, this feels so low budget.

It's god damn Obi-Wan. This show should look at least as good as Mando.

Exactly! Mando was great and mostly action was good, Obi Wan should be on the same level or even better.
Call me out if I’m in any matter wrong in thinking this….But could it be that the reason they’re so lackluster in action is that these two characters are pat their prime, where Mando is still in his? Maybe if they followed someone who’s still spritely and sorta on the way up like Cal Kestis?

As for the writing/dialogue, um, I guess it depends on the theme/genre of the series, no?

They are filling in the blanks of a story we already know. If you look at a good prequel show like Better Call Saul, they add in new, major characters to the mix. There's no room for character development in this. Vader is Vader. Obi Wan is Obi Wan. There's barely any blanks to fill in. The new characters aren't nearly deep enough to be interesting, or even on screen long enough.

Plus, I think most of these streaming services are rushing content out faster and cutting costs and corners. Very similar to what we see in video games. Some depth into the actual inquisitors would have been interesting, but it is all a cookie cutter story.

Mando was great because it was new. A new character with almost no ties back to anything we knew. We had no idea where that story was going to go. Obi Wan... we know exactly where this ends. Leia goes home. Obi Wan goes back.. all the suspense they are trying to build is obviously going to get fixed somehow because we know exactly how it ends.

Nah it’s just shot bad re a lot of the action, also I remember the director saying she doesn’t want to follow ‘stunt viz’ (which a lot of the times is better than the finished product) hence the action not being that great!

Jebuz, much hate towards this lol
Star wars always was meh in much of what is considered to be good movies, so not sure why people thought this would be different.
Imo, this is on par with most of the movies (give or take a couple)... I do love star wars and this isn't any different, just continue giving me episodes and more Hayden please (yeah, lol me).

Solid last episode. It would have been better off as a movie but if it had to be a show with the same overall budget it should have been 3 or 4 episodes.

You mean cut those epic Jerry bruckheimer chase scenes everyone mentioned before, I’m the first few episodes….I’d be like “👍

Last one was great. That scene with Vader/Anakin talking through the mask whe it was broken was brilliant.

Finished this, I enjoyed it for the most part 🤷🏻‍♂️ Not surprised some of the hate it got. Loved seeing Ewan back in the role as a broken Old Ben. Hayden was also good. They were better in this than the prequels. Even with its faults at times it was still enjoyable and had some great moments.

Now can we get a Vader series with Hayden taking place from ROTS to this with him and company going around being badass’s hunting down Jedi.

I think he’ll show up in Ashoka.
