Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi; Ewan McGregor Returns (An Old Hope) - 2022

i was the fight Coordinator so designed all the light saber fights etc 😊 along with a great team
we originally had some really cool sequences but so much got cut and dumbed down. I was pretty pleased with how it came out, but could’ve been so much better....

we prob had 70% of stuff they never used....
Just wanna say hell of a job on fight between Rey and Kylo. My favorite part of the whole movie.

It sounds like there was a whole bunch that was cut. Would love to see an extended version of the movie come out sometime! Kinda reminds me of how good the fight scenes were in Fellowship of the Ring, then when you saw the extended version, it's like there was a whole other level of cohesiveness to them.

I can't believe this though! Really? Seriously, great job then, btw! That much still shines through, in very much the same way I described above. I hold the lightsaber duels in high regard, and when I think of some of the best fight scenes to me, whether it be a Hollywood movie or a Hong Kong one, the best fight scenes always have a level of acting drama within the action itself. Excuse me for lack of a real term for this synergy. I'm not sure what level that mix is due to your involvement in choreography, but Star Wars has always had varying levels of this synergy in that sort of way, but Ep IX honestly topped every SW movie with the saber fighting in this regard, and I say this as someone who has had a very close attachment to Star Wars from an early age.

Was this your first Star Wars movie, or did you do any work on other sequels, as well?

This was my first one, hopefully tv series next ;)
thank you for your kind words and so glad you liked the saber fights. Like I said they should have been even more bad a$$ but so much got cut.

Thank you so much. Means a lot. Bit of a fan fact, the end killing move from Ben Solo on the last knight of Ren (barani flip over his head) I got the idea from a move in ninja gaiden black :)

I have a s**tload of ‘stunt viz’ I did, where we choreograph the scene, shoot it normally on my sony A7S2, then using after effects and blender I add some VFX placeholders, obviously not as good as the proper VFX team will do, but good enough to tell the story and see what the finished product could look like.
i have stuff from King Arthur, fantastic beasts 2, kick ass 2, mummy 3, Star Wars ep 9, justice league etc
I might cut a action design reel soon and whack some of this stuff in there......

Ahhhh so that was you...May have found your IMDB page earlier. Won't post for anonymity's sake, but nice resume! This Star Wars gig is gonna lead to a hell of a lot of projects, guaranteed.

I hope it honestly leads to a go-to guy for Star Wars, going forward for him. They are currently on a 'building upon what works' path. The Obi Wan series deserves professional choreography treatment, and actually needs to bridge the gap with Nick Gillard choreography of the prequels style and the geezer we first met back in Space-1977.

Cos of the bloody COVID-19, Obi Wan has gone stateside so I am not working on the show now 😔
gutted as I really wanted to do this project and had some awesome ideas (well I thought they were lol)
I think now I am starting on the movie about a guy who runs really fast. hopefully be fun.
Awe what, dude that must be heart breaking, I know you were stoked to work on it. And epic, will you be choreographing fights at forcefull speeds ;) yeah I know that was lame 😒

what about the other new Star Wars tv show or um hmmm probably shouldn’t be asking these questions, like the eternals, huh lol so many questions

My friend is the stunt coordinator on the other star wars show and that’s filming in the UK, he did ask me to come on board but I kinda already said yes to the other project.
hopefully should have a Eternals trailer soon as I think that’s out in February.

Once you see Indira Varma in your mind's eye with blue contacts and blonde hair, it's kind of hard to unsee, imo. (as in Dutchess Satine)

There is, another Han.

the last jedi lol GIF by Star Wars

I have only heard of Ewan and Hayden. And Hayden is a douche.
Rupert Friend was Quinn in Homeland. Kumail from Harold and Kumar, but has way more range than that. O'Shea Jackson is Ice Cube's son and played him in Straight Out Of Compton. Indira is from Game of Thrones. Have you been living the life of a hermit? Too much swinging!

I haven't heard of any of those you mentioned with the exception of Game of Thrones, which I have never seen.
