Star Wars: The Last Jedi **Spoilerriffic Thread**

Snoke was Jar Jar Binks.

Snoke was a cool character. s***ty development. Death was cool, but sucked otherwise.

Luke was awfully used. Absolutely terrible. I know why he’s been shifting on the movie. A complete waste. Horrible send off. No we have ghost Luke only? Get the f*** out of here. Unless they pull a double teleportation deal? Either way, completawfil usage.

Finns angle was completely worthless. I mean completely.

I need to see it again. Maybe this weekend? I’m left feeling very down about it.

Something about this keeps making me think of TRON Legacy of all things.

The exiled original character being drawn back into action and seemingly must die in an epic showdown with a major villain. Is this a Star Wars:. A New Trope?

EDIT: Both Luke and Flynn created the new nemesis of their respective films and both new better. Luke repeated Kenobi's mistake and Flynn built Clu giving him a job description that matched the original MCP.

Luke throwing the light saber over his shoulder is a good representation of what Rian Johnson did with The Force Awakens. If you don't want to make someone else's sequel then don't take the job.

I was fine with how they handled Luke in the film. Seems like people had big expectations and they went in a different directions. I like that the way he played out in this movie is not what I expected.

Not doing what you expect is fine but when a character has already existed for 3 movies you probably need to make sure that character's actions actually vibe with what has already been seen

We haven’t seen that character for decades (i the movie timeline) so how do you know how he would be by this point? What would you have done differently?

Well you need a better explanation for it in the movie. I don't buy Luke giving up and sitting on an island to die when the Luke we last saw would have gone to any length to save the people he cared about. Ben Solo turned? Big deal. He ignored everything he was told about Vader and tried to turn him back and did.

How does that fit with the story they are trying to tell now? It’s obvious they are trying to take Star Wars (this trilogy) in their own direction. From the looks of it a lot of people are not happy with that direction.

Now I’m curious what Abrams will do next and what he would have done with The Last Jedi and it’s overall story if he would have made the film.

Because this isn't some one off movie. It is a direct sequel to The Force Awakens as well as part 8 of 9. Even though I don't think its a bad movie it does fail at both of those things to me.

This wasn't the Star Wars I'm looking for. I came away tonight saddened.

True. Why didn't Luke join the Rebels and help Leia instead of hiding away?

Or if its to awkward being around Han and Leia, go after Snoke alone?
Luke was ashamed and utterly humbled to the point that he wanted to turn away from the Force. Little did he know that the Force works in mysterious ways...yeah this was pretty much a story of faith.

In terms of the movie "going in a different direction," I mean, it had the First Order as the villains and the Rebels as the heroes. Seems like the same direction as always.

The internet is going to be the death of Star Wars.

Turns away from The Force.

Lives on the planet with ancient Jedi texts.

Anyone else picked up on luck getting dolled for his last hurrah? I was like “woah, why did Luke dye his beard and hair...I could understand the hair cut but um yeah”. But I understand he wanted to look like when they, Leia and Kylo, last seen him.

And why did Luke and Leia do nothing whilst to protect Ben when they knew of Snokes existence? They both say they knew Snoke turned him, specifically Luke said/called-out Snoke after telling Rey about what happen. Leg was pretty much Oni Wan, aware of the mind games and was were both allowed to let them selves trigger that moment in fear.

Still enjoyed it though :p

Also how great was that blue milk scene?

Looked more green, maybe teal or sea foam, to me :p

I just realized this movie was Battlestar Galactica. Fleeing from an overwhelming force, with numbers dwindling. Enemy is called Chrome Dome. There's mutiny attempted, and they eventually get backed into a corner and survive with some deus ex machina. ;p

I liked how Finn was referred to as traitor again.

And someone please explain why Laura Dern's character stepped off of the set of Hunger Games?

I'm increasingly getting bugged about not knowing Snoke's origins. We are to assume that there are a bunch of potential Snokes and Lukes wandering about the galaxy now, right?

I did like how they portrayed a Lando type of figure in Benecio Del Toro's character - except he was truly a scumbag. Then again, who knows? Perhaps he'll redeem himself in the next movie?

Does Kylo not know how to do force lightning?

How is it Kylo Ren couldn't see that Luke's appearance was an illusion?

Could he have been fooled other ways? He couldn't see how Snoke connected him to Rey in The Force.

There was something off about Snoke's death and how the camera lingered on his face one more time. o_O

I thought on a whim it could be amusing if Snoke was a well built up decoy with a Wizard of Oz vibe. Or we have Iron Man 3 level bulls*** going on.

So why? So the fat cats on that casino planet can keep the old war going and keep selling weapons. They're probably even happy to see a real loony like Kylo Ren the reigns as long as he doesn't look like he'll win and end the war.

So this would mean there was another Force user behind Snoke.

Okay I'm just wondering how the loose ends could tie together. Just thought it would be amusing if this built on Del Toro's character almost like Lord of War in space.

That Lela scene where uses the force was funny.

Also how bad was the cgi in the final luke versus kylo fight? The background looked like battlefront and characters looks like clone wars cgi.
