PS5 version canceled but PS4 version in the cards? I remember Phil saying plays better or best on Xbox. If there is no PS5 version, then that would hold true.
No PlayStation versions. I'm not a betting man. If I were, I'd try to take all Val's money right now.

Why do people make out as if developing for the PlayStation is like literally making a separate game? It’s basically making it work on said console. It’s not like any assets have been made specifically for PlayStation or they’ve had to start developing all over again lol.

Zenimax PS games were in production before the purchase.

Nothing to continue with here we will wait and see what happens.
They were. They were canceled. The sunk cost developing the PS5 version of the game isn't that much in the scheme of things. Microsoft isn't counting pennies here. You're talking millions of dollars of wasted development cost for a 7.5 billion dollar purchase. Microsoft doesn't give two s***s about that.

Can't say much more than this...a Bethesda employee was saying there would be a PS5 version as late as March even while insiders with pretty good Xbox track records were saying there wouldn't be. That employee now doesn't believe there will be a PS5 version. Reason why there's confusion on the issue is because anyone with Bethesda contacts was hearing there were no changes with Playstation development...but that all changed once the Bethesda deal finalized.

Microsoft execs are on record that they believe exclusives are important to driving Game Pass subs. It's literally the only thing that matters to investors when it comes to gaming right now. They aren't worried about recouping millions of sunk development cost if it's going to cost them subs to what they believe will be a multi-billion dollar subscription service.

Don't wait. Don't hold your breath. Of course things can change. Playstation could accept Microsoft's offer to put Game Pass on their system. That looks quite unlikely today though who knows what the future holds. Playstation development has stopped on everything they didn't have commitments or contracts for. There is no contract on Starfield guaranteeing a PlayStation release.

Yeah. We aren't having this discussion in an XBOX thread....you two can make a thread in the multiplatform forum if you want or wait until it is all sorted out.

Either way...any further discussion in here on this game being multiplatform ends now.

My bad. I'm one of the Xbox weirdos that never cared if it was exclusive or not. Was trying to clear up some of the confusion however I agree it's not a good place to discuss it.

Moving on....this is an exciting game. Rebuilt game engine. Improved animations. Photogrammetry. Evolved physics. Bethesda games have been impressive for their times when launching early in a generation. Have a good feeling about Starfield.

Due to the limited amount of information we have available for Starfield, I am more interested in the mechanical direction the gameplay design will be going in rather than the actual content of the game at this time.

It's very possible it just plays like Elder Scrolls in space, with the vacuum of space being the "overworld" and other spaceships/planet surfaces encountered being the "towns" and "dungeons" as parallel to the Elder Scrolls experience as possible.

What leans me away from that are the few screenshots we have that depict a "science fiction" that is very visually grounded and seemingly eager to replicate the look of existing NASA modules. This leads me to think this will be science fiction in more of a "2001: A Space Odyssey" form opposed to the "Star Trek" variety.

What that means for gameplay, time will tell. Right now I am not expecting to be going around space pick-pocketing astronauts and then selling their loot to a space merchant.

So a 3 year old build? That's before the SeX was finalized
..and Creation Engine was not as evolved, and DX12U wasn't available yet. I just hope they are optimizing the sh out of this game!
