Which is more effective, first person or third person? I ask because third person always seems less precise. As such I'd imagine it may be the more succesful of the two formats in an online shooter. When I say 'less precise' I guess I mean 'requiring less precision'.
That's actually an interesting question. Back in the day playing these games I always liked 3rd person over 1st person in the game. However, since this generation I'm so used to FPS games now that I tend to lean toward 1st person view in games where I have a choice (like Fallout). Will be interesting to see what I choose in these games. I think I like 3rd person more in these games because I just like to see the character I'm playing as being a big fan of Star Wars.
Yeah I sometimes find it strange being given the option. It always seems somehow unfair one way or the other. In third person the targets you are shooting at are generally smaller and as such it always seems that you're given more leeway with the aiming mechanics. In first person you've generally got bigger targets so the aiming is more precise i.e. it's easier to aim for the head in fp than in tp. However, in third person, you have a better overall view of surroundings including (to some extent) what's behind you. Meh, I dunno. Does anyone with more gaming experience want to offer their opinion?
