MediEvil remake to headline next PlayStation State of Play livestream
Plus, a new title from Sony Worldwide Studios

Sony is hosting its second episode of State of Play — the Nintendo Direct-like video presentation for PlayStation games — on Thursday, May 9, at 3 p.m. PT. The next State of Play will offer an “extended look” at the PlayStation 4 remake of MediEvil, as well as the debut of a new title from PlayStation Worldwide Studios.

But don’t expect much beyond that. Thursday’s episode of State of Play will run approximately 10 minutes, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog. Sony does promise “other updates and announcements from upcoming PS4 games,” but it sounds best to keep expectations in check.

One thing Sony ruled out is additional details on the PlayStation 5. “Don’t expect any updates relating to our next-generation plans this time,” Sony said. “Sorry!”

State of Play will stream on Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.

State of Play wasn't all that great. They gave a bad first impression.

I don't expect much.They will show games nobody cares about. .
 
At least this time they're managing expectations.

- 10 minutes
- focus on Medieval
- one unannounced game
- nothing about the PS5

I wouldn't get my hopes about about the unannounced game. It's probably an indie or VR title.
 
That was better than I expected. Here it is for those who missed it. I like how crisp and concise it is.

  • Monster Hunter Iceborne, a "massive expansion," due in Sept.
  • Riverbond, a hack and slash arcade game
  • New Sony exclusive, Predator: Hunting Grounds. Online MP shooter. Coming in 2020.
  • Medieval - Oct. 25
  • Away. I love animals, so I'll be keeping an eye on this one. First person ... raccooner? PS4 + PC.
  • Days of Play limited edition PS4.
  • New FFXII trailer. "More in June."

Medievil looks great.
 
Just went to research MediEvil. I didn't realize this was out before. Still looks great.
 
I love the color of that limited edition console, that's the only color other than black I'd like to see a console come in.

Oh yeah, this is a remaster/remake of an ancient game. PS1, I believe? Shaun Layden was part of the development team (which may have something to do with why the remake was green lit, ha).

Yeah, I like that color, too. I'd be okay with a dark blue as well.
