Official Thread Street Fighter 5

Goals are long term with this game :) Get back 2 me when its been out 7+ years.
The best PLAYING fighter and the only fighter with dedicated servers(azure who?) isn't available on Xbox. Ouch.
With hundreds of millions PC's and 40 million PS4's, and they come up OVER a half million short of their goal of only 2 million, they have already failed at their INTERNAL goal. Sadly the "dedicated" servers were crap, and the content is sparse.

KI (84) > SF (7)

No need to wait 7 years, as everyone will have moved on to SFVI on all platforms by then.

No real fighting game fan will choose KI over SFV.
SFV is a 7-10 year project so no.
The content this far in is MUCH more than the player hosted KI had this far in.(azure where art though)
Hey I like KI but its casual friendly and a opening act @ tourneys where SF in the main event and that main event is played on 100+ foot screens for the world 2 see. Breaking Evo registration records with all the casuals giving it negative press was impressive as well.

Judging what by the quality of initial release? The GAMEPLAY is amazing far better than the previous game.
Oh you must be taking about the bad sales or casuals complaining about lack of single player modes.
Is that for real? They've said they're supporting it for 7-10 years? And the dlc is all free?

I bought the game for PC, and I've barely had a chance to play it, but knowing that, I regret the purchase a whole heap less.

I do kind of feel like this games launch is comparable to the Xbox One's. A confusing, fumbled mess. But the gameplay is there.

I still hate how the women look though. Bloody Kardashians, ruining everything.

Yes and they CLAIM it will be free minus the cosmetic stuff.

I can agree with the last 2 parts of what you said.

Not bad sale numbers for a supposed trash broken game. I'm sure Capcom will reach their sales goal soon and then some. I haven't played much recently but i know i'll come back to it.

Oh and no, Killer Instinct is not a better fighting game than Street Fighter V. It's good, but SFV is the measuring stick for the genre. That opinion won't change with an avatar swap either.

Are we happy now?

What you are not telling people is that the "free DLC" set up is like a free 2 play game. You can earn them by playing, but that is likely to going to be a grind, or you can pay real world money and get them instantly.

Like MKX?

;)

DLC characters are released at the end of every month. If 4 weeks aren't enough that's on you.

Capcom Admits It Made Mistakes With Street Fighter 5

Capcom has finally admitted that it made a mistake releasing Street Fighter 5 before it was finished.

“It’s best to spend a little more time in developing and running a high-quality title that will perform well globally,” said Capcom chairman and CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto in his year-end summary.

“For example, some aspects of Street Fighter V needed more polish, such as the lack of content and server issues at launch,” he continued. “Accordingly, we feel it’s better to give a little more time to development than before, and have made slight adjustments to our portfolio.”

Let’s just go over that once more, “Street Fighter V needed more polish, such as the lack of content and server issues”. For a game that essentially lives or dies by its multiplayer, this is a pretty huge oversight to make. Street Fighter 5 famously launched with broken servers and a severe lack of content that completely overshadowed the strength of the core release. This has promoted Capcom to re-evaluate the way in which it will develops and handle future releases.

Especially as the issues have affected sales, with Tsujimoto noting that “profits may take one or two years longer to stack up than initially expected, however we will be firmly strengthening our brands”.

Street Fighter 5 sold 1.4 million units, which was short of the forecasted 2 million Capcom expected.

So did Guile come out yet or what? I can't believe he wasn't in the game at launch.
Yeah, he's available. You have to update your game, though. He should appear right in the roster with everyone else.

If you're any good with charging characters, this guy is a beast. He can now keep up with people like Ken or Ryu in the Fireball department, too. I'm really loving what they did with his chain attacks when you are unable to charge or don't have enough time to charge during certain instances.

Awesome. Looks like i'll be playing some SFV again soon then. I love Guile, he was a top 3 fighter for me back in the day. Wish they had Blanka in there at launch as well.

Anyone try story mode? s*** is grayed out in game and from what I'm now reading is the story mode is separate from the 1.04 update. But I can't find it anywhere. Only thing I'm seeing as DLC is the season pass. Anyone know how to actually download this bulls***?

It didn't boot up when i tried it earlier. Imma give it a try later on. Seems I'll have to unlock Guile again, too. Dang it....

Found it buried in the store. Why isn't it just listed in the damn DLC for the game? Why not have it spotlighted in the Store? Why not just have it auto download like every other damn patch? Booted up the PS4 (first time in a couple months) hoping to play only to have to wait for it to download, which because of Sony's Walmart servers meant I lost the interest to play it for the day. Maybe tomorrow...

Story mode was better than I thought.

I think MKX story mode was better, but SFV story had some things in it I wasn't expecting. Kudos to Capcom.

That's good to hear. Just like the old days. I could play story mode on Street Fighter II on the SNES again and again. The classics never die.

New Modes and Features: In addition to the main game, the following content will be included in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition: and will be available as a free update to existing Street Fighter V players beginning on January 16:

  • Arcade Mode – choose from six different paths themed after classic Street Fighter games.
  • Gallery – unlock hundreds of illustrations as you play through Arcade Mode.
  • Extra Battle – complete timed challenges to obtain exclusive costumes throughout 2018.
  • New V-Triggers – each character will have two V-Triggers, adding even more depth to the combat system.
  • New Visuals – the user interface is being redesigned with new color schemes, revised menus and exciting pre-and-post-fight effects.

So, is everything including all of the updates gonna be released on disk? I've wanted this since release, but without any arcade mode it would've been pointless.

Chalk this up as another fighting game I bought but barely touched. KI and MKX are the last ones I spent any time with that I feel I got my money worth. Those were bright days for my interest in fighting games but this and Tekken 7 didn't do anything for me.
