The Alba bulbs are designed to work autonomously, both by adjusting light output based on sunlight and by learning and adapting to its owners household habits.

3.732 Teraflops

Just trying to imagine what could be done with this kind of crazy parallel processing. Strangely, I don't think PC games can take much advantage of this. Maybe some Photoshop plugins could be crazy fast. Or certainly anything with 3D Graphics and Rendering involved.

Could do some serious Facebooking on that thing.

Number of long distance truckers buying an expensive rig that has 500 mile range, and needs lengthy wait times to charge: Zero

Number of short distance truckers who are local and can charge it overnight (assuming a lot has a charging station): 5

30 minutes to charge for 400 more miles.

This is phase one of his plan. The truck will form the giant robot torso and the car will be the head.

4 or maybe 6 more small vehicles will come out to complete the line.

I see Steve Jobs in Musk...

Steve was in it for the user experience and the $$$.

Musky is rich too but he is putting it where his mouth is and bringing ideas that make the world better for everyone and if hes late its free.

TBH though the guy is set for life. So he might as well spend the rest of it trying to help everyone out. I hope he does nanomachines next...that would pretty much solve disease and pollution.

PepsiCo makes biggest public pre-order of Tesla Semis: 100 trucks

SEATTLE (Reuters) - PepsiCo Inc (PEP.N) has reserved 100 of Tesla Inc’s (TSLA.O) new electric Semi trucks, the largest known order of the big rig, as the maker of Mountain Dew soda and Doritos chips seeks to reduce fuel costs and fleet emissions, a company executive said on Tuesday.

Tesla has been trying to convince the trucking community that it can build an affordable electric big rig with the range and cargo capacity to compete with relatively low-cost, time-tested diesel trucks.

Several transportation firms are holding off on the Tesla for now, citing uncertainty over the time it takes to recharge compared to a diesel fill-up, range, and payload capabilities and how the market for electric commercial vehicles will develop.

About 260,000 heavy-duty Class-8 trucks are produced in North America annually, according to FTR, an industry economics research firm.

Navistar International Corp (NAV.N) and Volkswagen AG’s Truck and Bus are working to launch an electric medium duty truck by late 2019, while rival Daimler AG has delivered the first of a smaller range of electric trucks to customers in New York.

PepsiCo’s 100 trucks add to orders by more than a dozen companies such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N), fleet operator J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc (JBHT.O), and food service distribution company Sysco Corp (SYY.N). Tesla has at least 285 truck reservations in hand, according to a Reuters tally.

PepsiCo intends to deploy Tesla Semis for shipments of snack foods and beverages between manufacturing and distribution facilities and direct to retailers within the 500-mile (800-km) range promised by Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk.

The semi-trucks will complement PepsiCo’s U.S. fleet of nearly 10,000 big rigs and are a key part of its plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its supply chain by a total of at least 20 percent by 2030, said Mike O‘Connell, senior director of North American supply chain for PepsiCo subsidiary Frito-Lay.

PepsiCo is analyzing what routes are best for its Tesla trucks but sees a wide range of uses for lighter loads like snacks or shorter shipments of heavier beverages, O‘Connell said.

Tesla declined to comment on its customers and potential customers to date.

Tesla unveiled the Semi last month and expects the truck to be in production by 2019.

O‘Connell declined to say how much PepsiCo paid to reserve its trucks, when it placed the order, or whether it plans to lease the trucks or buy them outright. Tesla initially asked $5,000 per truck for pre-orders but that amount has since risen to about $20,000.

...Santa Monica

https://jalopnik.com/teslas-apparently-serious-about-building-a-supercharger-1823775023

On Wednesday, The Drive noticed a permit for a “Tesla restaurant and supercharger station” had been filed on the City of Santa Monica’s website. The permit could be reviewed by the city as soon as March 22, the news outlet reported.

The Drive noted that a former Volvo dealership sits at the current address listed on the permit, which seems to offer a decent footprint to fill out a Supercharger station and restaurant. I hope the staff isn’t on roller skates, though. Roller skating isn’t fun.

Kinda, sorta, maybe, not really, but...

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2018...help-me-put-super-fun-games-on-tesla-screens/

On Wednesday, Elon Musk used his Twitter account to officially solicit applications from video game developers to work at Tesla—specifically, on games that would be played exclusively within Tesla cars. The below tweet suggests an augmented-reality take on gaming, thanks to its vague call to combine "touch screen, phone, & car irl [in real life]."

Musk followed that up by asking interested game makers to "send examples of prior work" that emphasize "max playability & creativity." When one Twitter follower suggested that Musk talk to Bioshockseries creator Ken Levine, Musk simply replied, "Bioshock is amazing."

The solicitation came hours after Musk hinted at an Atari-related Easter egg coming to Tesla's v9.0 software, which will also include "full self-driving features" for compatible cars "in about four weeks."

Yea i can see Tesla putting a console in their cars. With the portable nature of the Switch id rather they just make is so that can be plugged into the car then a whole new console.

You know, I haven’t really seen any aftermarket solutions for console/portable/media device integration...maybe I’ve been a ditz and oblivious to any solution if there be any, for Tesla models. Probably should ask my colleague who’s got one >.<‘
