The Cell Phone Thread

My Pixel 4 had some kind of water or sweat damage or something because it had screen issues and backlight issues for probably close to a year lol. Couldn't see about 1/10th of the screen on the left. Wasn't a massive thing, I learned to live with it and decided to just move on with my life. Well then the other day the middle of my screen stopped being responsive top to bottom. Took multiple taps to get it to work.

Was waiting for them to finally announce the Pixel 6 to see if the 5A would drop in price or anything, and luckily the phone broke just in time. Ended up getting a 5A with insurance included for a total of $360, which saved me about $230 in the long run. Don't need the bells and whistles of the 6, I just stopped caring about cell phones once they kind of hit their ceilings. Battery life is great, and that's really what I care about the most.

This phone rocks! Forgot what it's like to be able to see your entire screen LOL

Looking to get a Apple watch for my mom's birthday, to pair with her phone. But not sure which version to get. Btw, will it need to be added as a new line to her Verizon bill? Seems like if you try to get one through Verizon they want to add it as a new or updated line

well they are a cellular company so just like tablets, they will want to sell you a watch with a cellular plan as that is where they make their money, not in device sales. You only really need the line if you 1) want to use the watch outside of bluetooth range of the phone and 2) want to finance the price of the watch on the line.

So I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max. I do NOT have a PC or Mac to be able to sync music to it (I replaced my MacBook with a new iPad Pro 12.9 a couple weeks ago). When I buy vinyl albums, sometimes they come with a code for being able to download the album digitally as well. How can I get those playable in the Apple Music app? I haven’t downloaded them yet, but I assume they go into the FILES app.

Need a computer, or if you can download them from iTunes app. I know digital movie codes can be redeemed at multiple places.

Well that blows. I guess I will do it at work on a work computer 😟

Hmm interesting. I had a 4 as well and started having issues with the screen going black right after unlocking it and either having to hit the power button or tap the screen. Last weekend it started doing it while I was in an app and then late Saturday screen went black outside of green flickering. Was hoping to continue using it for 3 years but only made it a few years beyond the 2 year cycle. Ended up going with the Pixel 6.

Didn't they just drop their price?
I was thinking about this or the Galaxy 22 +

Just preorder the galaxy 22+ Samsung edition with the Ultra 22 tab 8!

So excited!

Our new house's reception for T-Mobile is s*** so we're going to have to switch, and since we have AT&T fiber we get a discount on wireless so they're the choice. But since we're switching, we can't pre-order, which means we'll be at the damn AT&T store on the 27th trying to get a couple of those Ultras and some cheaper phones for my sons and mother-in-law. Upgrading from a Galaxy S9, so, yeah, it's time. :)

The color I picked is exclusive from Samsung.

I love it, can't wait!

Too lazy to create a new thread, but thoughts on smartwatches? Never been a watch person anyways so never bothered with a smartwatch until now. Grabbed the Galaxy Watch4 as I had a $150 voucher through Verizon bringing the LTE 40mm one to half price. I was already thinking about getting one for when I bike so I don't need my phone on me. With this running Google OS I can use Strava for tracking rides and YouTube Music.

Was hoping for a Pixel watch but nothing too concrete on release now so with a hard to miss discount went ahead with the Galaxy.

I had a smart watch (Garmin). Then upgraded to the Apple Watch. The quality of the Apple Watch was night and day better. I was glad I upgraded. However, I have had it for about 2 years now and I have lost interest in the smart aspect, and I really want to move myself away from the connectivity.

I think I will trade in my watch at the Apple Store, along with my 2021 iPad Pro 12.9” and get a MacBook Pro again. Then I will buy a Tag Heuer watch. Non smart version.

I am looking at getting this one:

I have a crappy LG Stylo 4 which works fine for me. I'm not sure what the call quality is like, since I never talk to anyone anyway.

You don't have a PC?

This is something I can't fathom.

Having a "desktop" PC is my hub. And everything is there and I can put whatever files onto my phone/tablet and vice versa, and hard back-up anything important.

I am an old man apparently. I can't imagine just having a smartphone and.....that's it?
