The cooking and baking thread.

I was a little curious about ways to getting chunky Bleu Cheese melted slightly on a burger because at a Cajun restaurant I go to sometimes they always do it better than what I make at home.

I randomly got a butane torch and just tried very lightly sweeping flame it trying to melt but not burn. I got a tiny amount of singe, but not to bad. l thought slightly melted it tasted better, so cool experiment.

Really weird experiment with spicy oats loosely inspired by Indian Masala Oats.

I added cooked pieces of diced sweet potato, red onion, jalapeno, pecan pieces, and garlic. Lots of Cajun Spice with a little bit of turmeric and black pepper. Garnished with Cilantro.

Not bad actually and I think so much better than the typical cinnamon / apple slices or banana. Still so bland unless you add sugar.

I never thought of Oatmeal as a base of 'savory' food before.

Was using a Microwave Poached Egg thing and the goddamn egg exploded.

I wondered if anyone else uses quick microwave cooking tricks for eggs. Maybe I just need to break up the yoke?

NOTE: I really prefer stove cooking but tried this as a time saver making breakfast before going to my long work shift.

My dad used to do this when I was a kid. He would crack the egg, add maybe a tablespoon of milk, and let it go.

It was kind of like this, but he would scramble less:
