Man of Medan is the first game in an anthology. It's by Supermassive, the developers behind Until Dawn, which I liked a lot, despite not liking teen horror movies at all. It's slated for 2019.

From Variety -

The team behind PlayStation 4 horror adventure game “Until Dawn” are working on a series of stand-alone, cinematic branching horror games called “The Dark Pictures Anthology,” Supermassive Games CEO Pete Samuels announced Tuesday.
The first in the series, which is coming to PlayStation4, Windows PC, and Xbox One, is called Man of Medan and is set to launch next year.
“At Supermassive, we have a passion to deliver powerful cinematic stories and we’re following on from titles like ‘Until Dawn’ and ‘The Inpatient’ by telling new horror stories that we expect the fans will want to play,” Samuels writes. “Each game in the series will feature a brand new story, setting, and characters. ‘The Anthology’ format gives us the opportunity to tap into a variety of horror sub-genres. We’ve identified 39 that we’d love to represent in the Anthology, but that would take some time!”

In Man of Medan, players will explore the store of a group of four young Americans and their skipper as they head out on a dive boat in the South Pacific in search of a rumored WWII wreck. The game, Samuels writes, is meant to be “hugely replayable.”
“In fact, there is more branching in Man of Medan than any of our previous games,” he wrote. “There are multiple endings and multiple scenarios based on the decisions you make in the game. Be careful though as all the playable characters can live, and any and all of them can die, depending on the choices you make.”

Thank goodness. Glad to see them returning to what they do best.

Hands On: Man of Medan Is a Return to Form for Until Dawn Dev

"Developer Supermassive Games has been treading water for far too long now. After its 2015 title Until Dawn became a bit of a cult hit that deserved a lot more love, it overloaded itself with PlayStation VR projects, most of which missed the mark by a big margin. The likes of Bravo Team and The Inpatientseem to be behind the studio now, though, with its latest project hoping to capitalise on what made Until Dawn tick. The Dark Pictures Anthology will be a series of short stories based on different horror tropes, with the first taking the form of Man of Medan. After getting hands on with the debut episode at EGX 2018, it looks like Supermassive is back to doing what it does best."

"But most importantly, that cheesy horror that made Until Dawn so good is back and better than ever."

"It's clear that Supermassive is stepping up its game with Man of Medan. With teens to be saved, romances to blossom, and bad guys to escape from, the bone-chilling gameplay loop from Until Dawn is back with a bang."

Looks cool, but man, that Uncanny Valley. It makes me appreciate the work Remedy did with Ashmore's face in Quantum Break.

I really enjoyed watching others play Until Dawn (didn't have a PS4 then, but I have the game now... just haven't played it). I watched entire playthroughs of that game. Looks neat.

Yeah, it's a lot of fun. They capture the teen horror vibe very well. It's good with choices & consequence, too. I think Kvally/Hedon mentioned that he played it with his wife and had a good time, so it can also be a fun game to play through with others.

Good game. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It's not too long, maybe 12 hours or so.

Nice, will probably try to get through it this week. I’m in the mood for a horror game

Just heard these games (the Dark Pictures Anthology) are going to be 4 hour titles. So digital, and presumably $30 or $40.

Also, sounds like they've got a three-game deal.

"Each of the games in the anthology aims to be around four hours playtime, although those who wish to replay the game and look for alternative outcomes will, of course, be looking at longer."

First one due out in 2019. "Supermassive aims to release two anthology titles per year, so the others shouldn't be too far behind."

Until dawn one of the best ps4 games imo.
Strangely it seems they've down a massively worse job on the character faces in this one, it looks like a mediocre last gen game graphically tbh. New game engine?

Five Big Takeaways From Our Hands-On With Supermassive’s Next Big Venture

1. The Branching Paths Are Ambitious

While Man of Medan may be half the length of Until Dawn, it isn’t lacking in content or replayability. The team upped the ante in the amount and variation of the branching paths.

2. A Bigger Focus On Relationships

Supermassive quickly realized that the relationships between the various characters were one of the most popular parts of Until Dawn, making the team put even more effort into giving them more depth and reward here.

3. Exploration Is Rewarding

In my demo, I was not disappointed in taking the extra time to search and revisit every nook and cranny, in fact I was rewarded in an array of different ways.

4. The Split-Second Decisions Are Intense

If you thought Until Dawn had some difficult choices and interesting consequences, you are going to feel right at home here. The decisions often come fast and have unpredictable consequences, making you wonder when it’s worth taking a risk or playing it safe constantly.

5. Expect The Unexpected

If we learned anything from Until Dawn and its big twist, it’s that Supermassive loves to take you by surprise.

Game Informer also has a 6-page feature coming up in the June issue. I haven't gotten my copy yet, although they say the digital edition is live.

Never did play through Until Dawn like I said, this is my week for it! This game looks fun, curious how much value will be there for $30.

I've only played 80 or so minutes but so far, its pretty good. Great graphics and a few jump scares.
