Official Thread The Dark Pictures Anthology

Gamespot gave it a 6....
I did love Until Dawn, rank it among my top 10 ps4 games, if this is anywhere close to that I'm in.
Not super glad about reviews this far though.

This game is legit scary. Very tense moments. Plus the old school resident evil camera angles are not helping. Also, has very good character models.

It's been awesome so far. The characters are likeable (if you choose them to be). I remember watching Until Dawn and not liking / caring about the majority of the shallow characters, so this is an improvement.

The graphics are great and they absolutely nailed the atmosphere for a horror story. The Woman in Black and Ringu are shown in the intro - I'm really happy this is an anthology.

I'm at the part where Fliss is warning them about bringing back objects from the dead after the dive. Gonna play some more tomorrow!

Played a few hours. No one's dead yet and I'm enjoying it.

Finished Man of Medan. Got all the characters out alive, sort of.... Toward the end it gets less scary but more tense as you start getting a grasp of what's really going on on the ship. Might play through again using the Curator's cut. A Little Hope, the next game in the series seems to be more of the same just more Blair witchy.

Is it like Until Dawn?

Finished it as well. Let one die as I found them annoying.

Will play again but felt like a few hours got cut as some things seemed to just get ignored unless that's just how I played it.

Still looking forward to the rest of the series.

They need to be careful they don't become the next Telltale

I hope this is a better story than the ghost ship.
I think it's hard to top Until Dawn with these compact experiences tbh
I'd like them to go all out with a big game like Until Dawn, maybe skip the celeb actors to save some money (even though I loved seeing Rami Malek).

I’m not really interested in this game. But I just want to say, f*** Gamespot. They seem like they don’t even like games anymore.

I see they haven't overcome the uncanny valley yet. Voice acting is a bit wooden. Looks interesting though...
Voice acting was great in Until Dawn and Man of Medan though. Uncanny valley hits harder when you're looking at famous faces (Peter Stormare, Rami Malek e.t.c) than on B actors you haven't seen before imo. Even parts of Leia in Rogue One had it, so I'm guessing it's far off idk

There are a number of games that get around the valley nowadays.

Perhaps... but most of them doesn't use famous actors that we already have gotten used to their face mimic. When they use an actor as a base and make big artistic decisions it usually pans out better, but this developer mostly tries for 100% likeness.
